Had 3 in the room, was very crowded. The floors creaked a lot. The best part was the window opened up to the Grand Canal and we enjoyed the boats and gondolas floating by. Breakfast was a continental breakfast, the croissants were amazing!

The Hotel Galleria is ideally located for people watching on Accademia Bridge and vaporetto/gondola watching on the Grand Canal. You get a great view of the bridge from small Room 4 ($200/night) and a fabulous view of canal and bridge from larger Room 5, facing the Palazzo Barbaro. Sailors and boaters will not mind the vaporetto activity and noise of...

Great location with amazing views of the Grand Canal, centrally located, period decor, wonderful continental breakfast brought to our room, VERY helpful staff with very helpful recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants. Our 3 nights here made our first visit to Venice amazing. Room 8 had a wonderful view and we loved watching all the boat traffic go by.

The hotel location is outstanding! In a land of twisty streets, this hotel is easy to find - at the bottom of the Accademia Bridge. The windows of our room opened onto the canal and we could sit and watch all the boats go by. How fantastic! The room was plush with velvet and tapestries and so Venetian! This was...

We loved our stay in Accademia. Location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. Staff were great, helped us with transport advice and also dinner recommendations in the area. The room (room 8) looked right out onto the canal, near the bridge. Perfect. A basic breakfast was served in our room. The walls are thin (comes with accommodation that...

Really enjoyed our stay at this small hotel, very traditional decor and perfect location on the canal with great views, comfortable beds, clean rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The large breakfast tray delivered each morning at requested time was a treat with fresh baked breakfast rolls and croissants, yogurt, fruit juice etc. Close to the best art galleries and not...

Hotel Galleria was excellent. The in-room breakfast is super charming and delicious. We had a mixup with the bill and they accidentally over charged us. They immediately recognized their mistake and gave us a full refund!!! Very friendly. Great location too- right next to the Accademia Bridge.

Very old building but rooms are nice. Get one on the corner and you'll be facing out to the Canal. Very close to water taxi terminal, shopping, and attractions. Bridge right there to cross over to Venice Academia is the only neighborhood to stay in. Quiet and away from the Venice chaos.

We stayed at the Hotel Galleria the last week in November. The hotel is in a perfect location, in Dorsoduro, next to the Accademia bridge to cross over into San Marco, and walking distance to the Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim museums. The room was nice, breakfast hot and delicious (served in your room). We stayed in Room #5 overlooking the...

After a small confusion over the room booking, ( a double room instead of a family room) this was blamed on the owners lack of understanding and after apologies we soon had a crib for our two year old. Breakfast was served promptly the next morning at the agreed time, as there is no dining area this is brought to...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
