This was a return visit for us. We brought 2 of our granddaughters and treated them to 3 nights at this delightful hotel. The location can't be beat. It is right on the Grand Canal and within easy access to everything. There is not a thing we don't enjoy in this small boutique hotel. Our granddaughters loved it. We will... More

We stayed at the Hotel Galleria for 5 nights from May 9 through May 13, 2015. While some of the rooms are small, our room was quite spacious--a corner room with one window facing the Accademia Bridge, and 2 windows facing the Grand Canal. The recently added bathroom in this room was quite small, but certainly adequate--small shower, sink, toilet... More

5 days stay at 260€/night/room for what is supposed to be the best and more recently renewed room (n°5). But we had to request several times to have the room cleaned (partially done after 2 nights, and completely after 4 nights). This is seen as normal by manager and owner (Luciano). Tiny bathroom (paper toilet in the bidet and therefore... More

We totally apologize for the dust inconvenience in the room, as we said to the guest it was probably due to the renovations works that we did the weeks before. In the days following some big works the dust keep going and floating around and by our fault we didn't notice it in some hidden areas as shown in the... More

Our stay at Hotel Galleria couldn't have been better! They made a mistake with our reservation and double booked the small room we'd reserved so they upgraded us to their largest room for the same price. Everyone we came into contact with there was so very sweet and welcoming. The room was beautiful and the view couldn't be beat. It's... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in earlier this month and just loved it. The location is perfect -- very close to the Accademia bridge but still away from the crazy touristy areas. The room, while small, was beautifully decorated and had everything that we needed. It felt so luxurious having our breakfast delivered to our room... More

The location alone would make us strongly recommend this small family run hotel, conveniently located a stones throw away from the Accademia water bus stop and central to all the main sights. In addition we found all of the staff friendly and helpful and the ensure large double room we chose (10) was spacious, clean and very comfortable and the... More

My wife and I spent 3 days at Hotel Galleria in August 2015. Could not have asked for a better place. Its location is perfect. Right beside the Galleria vaporetto station. In Venice, it is very important to stay close to a Vaporetto Station so that you don't have to walk much with your luggage. The entrance is small, but... More

I'd been planning to stay at here for years after lots of recommendations from friends but always found it full during the summer months. What a pleasure to get the opportunity to stay during the quieter winter period when Venice is actually at it's best in my view. The Galleria definitely didn't disappoint and was perfect in every way: ideally... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
