My wife and I just left Venice after 2 nights staying at the marvelous Hotel Flora. You cannot go wrong with this hotel. - Very close to everything, including St. Mark's Square, but not too close so it's not too touristy. It's truly a "hidden gem." - Very nice, clean, comfortable rooms, even if the shower was very tiny (smaller... More

This is a really nice hotel. Worth every penny. The location is perfect. Quiet rooms and the bar area is a fun place to end your day. Bartender is very nice and helpful. The only feedback I have is DON'T get off the Accademia stop. It's not close at all (especially with luggage).

We stayed here 3 nights with our son and his family. What a great location. The little garden area is charming and a great place for breakfast and cocktails. My only complaint is the hairdryer was awful.

Pros: The location and price were fantastic, a great value when you also get modern conveniences like WiFi and air-conditioning. Cons: Bottled water in the room upon arrival would be great for later arrivals. Location: Lovely, boutique hotel near Piazza San Marco but not in the middle of the crazy crowds. This little vintage hotel with its charming garden is... More

We stayed here with our teenage children and had booked the family suite. However, when we arrived, we were told there was a plumbing issue so we were given their apartment. That was a very nice surprise! The apartment has 2 bedrooms but only one bath and a living area. There was no kitchen but it did have a nice... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in hotel Flora for 3 nights. It was a nice little hotel and its in a great location. About 4 minutes walk to st marks square. It's located in the middle of the high end shops. The room was quite small with a fairly small bathroom but was adequate for what we needed (the shower... More

I loved this hotel. I did book a single room but it was so spacious and comfortable, I always had a clean room and towels. Also, they use a floral room spray that is smells so good called Floria by Ortigia, hotel guests get a discount from this store around the corner. Every morning they serve the most incredible Italian... More

A pretty hotel hidden away in an alley near Plaza San Marco, with rustic features. Breakfast has many choices, and the staff is very kind. They also serve a light dinner that requires booking (I personally have never tried it, but good to know). The bathrooms are beautiful, by the way, with a glass door walk-in shower. If you want... Great Wifi, clean room, great breakfast and location is superb. A bit of a shlep from the vaporetto station getting there but easier when leaving. The room is 2 meters wide for a single and the thin bed is next to the wall giving little room especially when I was on the computer. It's hard to give this hotel a... More

Small room but bathroom is annoyingly small and not nice at all. Dont look at hotels photos. We did and they are misleading. Very clean sheets and towels. We cannot sleep with airco open as it makes so much noice and you cant lower the fan. Breakfast is limited but they renew it. What i have selected was delicious. They... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
