Our stay at Hotel Da Bruno during our European vacation was one of the higlights of our trip. Before leaving on our vacation we were sent directions on how to find the hotel travelling by all modes of transport, a map and some activities and sights we could do while in Venice. This was invaluable. When we arrived we were... More

I chose this hotel based on the positive reviews about its breakfast. And it was totally worth it! The hotel had decent and cosy rooms, respectable service level by its staff and a great location! The only trouble we faced was finding the hotel as we arrived in Venice in the night.

The hotel is in an ideal spot. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Rooms and premise clean. Tiny shower. We were able to locate a laundry that was recommended from another travel guide. Drop off, launder, and fold you pick up for $15 a load. Worked great, though owner did not speak any English we were able to... More

We stayed for 4 nights at this great hotel which has a good location just next to the main streets and close to the Rialto bridge. The hotel has a friendly staff, nice complimentary breakfast, working wifi and clean rooms. The rooms are fairly small, but quiet. Nice stay overall!

We stayed here for 3 days last week. The hotel is in an ideal situation and easy to find. About 3 min from Rialto Bridge and 5 from St Marks square. The staff are excellent very friendly and a wealth of knowledge of where what to see. They have their own printed maps of Venice which are excellent. The room... More

We stayed at the hotel 10/7/16-13/7/16, we were sent directions from the hotel so found it quite easily, check in was very simple and we were given a complimentary drink upon arrival. Our bags were carried up to the room by a member of staff which i thought was lovely!!! The room was of adequate size and contained everything you... More

Hotel da Bruno is not a fancy boutique hotel. The interior is not fancy or designed. But it is clean and has exactly what you need when visiting Venice for 2-3 days. 1) Good location in between the Rialto bridge and St Marcus square. 2) Very friendly and helpful front desk staff, who will go out of there way to... Just got back from a wonderful stay in Venice. Stayed at Da Bruno and really enjoyed it. The Hotel is basic but brilliantly placed. It is clean and tidy and the staff were really helpful. Buffet breakfast was good. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

We stayed here for 2 nights, fantastic location, not far from Rialto Bridge. Staff were wonderful, very helpful with directions and suggestions. No elevator but they carried the bags so no problem there. Bed was comfortable, everything you could need. Breakfast was fine, typical European but tasty. This is a nice hotel and we would definitely stay here again

Hotel da Bruno is located midway between St. Mark's Square and The Rialto Bridge. It is easy to visit these places, stop by the room to drop off your purchases and head back out. The hotel is very quaint. Marble stairs, damask coverlets, high ceilings. Our room had a small - tiny- balcony overlooking the street. Our traveling companions overlooked... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
