Can't beat the location--steps to Piazza San Marco, steps to a main vaparetto stop, and steps to restaurants and shops. Although a small boutique hotel, it was quite comfortable, quiet and served one of the best breakfasts we had on our month-long trip.

Delighted to find this hotel. It is located seconds away from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop, down a tiny street, with nothing else on it. If you have luggage, this is the perfect hotel. Get the AVTO bus from Marco Polo airport to Piazzale Roma and then take the No. 1 vaporetto and enjoy a 45 min trip down the... More

This hotel is situated at the heart of venice, less than 5 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco. The hotel is clean and pleasant, surprisingly silent during the night, breakfast was nice and the staff helpfull. A bit pricy, but so are most hotels in venice I guess.

We had booked a 1 bedroom suite on the ground floor. The suite is not in the hotel building but located diagonally across the hotel and was very spacious. I was a little concerned about security and noise when booking that but was extremely happy with it. The hotel is in a small alcove and very quiet even though its... More

Very cute tucked away hotel, so it is very quiet. The room is quite small but we were only staying for 2 nights. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. I really liked the interior design of the room and bathrooms. Breakfast is quite minimal. Location is perfect as far as transport goes.

It is a good hotel located in a very good location in Venice: near San Marco and Doge's Palace. Highly recommend this hotel. Also breakfast is good. A/C is cool - as required in July. They speak English and very friendly.

We stayed here for a night- and overall it was fine for our duration. Definitely nice and quiet but close enough to the city center. Our room was a bit outdated in design, but that may have been the charm of a Venetian-styled room. The bathroom did not have enough space to hang towels, etc. However the biggest issue for... More

We were only in Venice one night, but thought Hotel Campiello was the perfect place to experience the city. It was so conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the water bus stop, and also very close to San Marco Square. It was clean, and had a great boutique unique feel to it. We enjoyed our stay here.

They do not make their cancellation policy clear. I believe their policy is misleading to travelers outside of Europe. This hotel has a 5 day/120 hour cancellation policy. I would not have an issue with their policy if it was more clear. The 5 days/120 hours is from midnight the day of check in, Italian time. I live in a... More

Hotel Campiello is in a great location, a small alley just off the main walkway along the waterfront. Easy to walk with luggage from the San Zaccaria stop without having to cross any bridges. (Veer slightly left behind the Hotel Savioa.) Our family was upgraded to the amazingly spacious two room apartment across the teeny campo from the main reception.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
