We were only in Venice one night, but thought Hotel Campiello was the perfect place to experience the city. It was so conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the water bus stop, and also very close to San Marco Square. It was clean, and had a great boutique unique feel to it. We enjoyed our stay here.

They do not make their cancellation policy clear. I believe their policy is misleading to travelers outside of Europe. This hotel has a 5 day/120 hour cancellation policy. I would not have an issue with their policy if it was more clear. The 5 days/120 hours is from midnight the day of check in, Italian time. I live in a... More

Hotel Campiello is in a great location, a small alley just off the main walkway along the waterfront. Easy to walk with luggage from the San Zaccaria stop without having to cross any bridges. (Veer slightly left behind the Hotel Savioa.) Our family was upgraded to the amazingly spacious two room apartment across the teeny campo from the main reception.... More

this hotel was literally steps from the water bus stop and we could walk everywhere from there. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. a bit of noise from the alley, but nothing to bother us really. The breakfast was very good and the service lovely. A bit dated in decor, but a good value for Venice and the... More

After a long day of travel we arrived at the Hotel Campiello. The street is not well marked but the map we received at the Alilaguna helped. This hotel is literally steps off the San Zaccaria stop, one street over from Calle San Zaccaria on Calle de Vin if that helps. We arrived at noon, with check in at 2pm... More

We spent 5 nights here. This hotel is perfect. It's 100 meters from the San Zaccaria water bus station which is awesome when you arrive/depart with your luggage and easy to travel about once you're settled. Staff is amazingly patient and helpful. Rooms are clean. A/c cool. You really can't go wrong.

Excellent location, friendly staff, comfortable room (although quite small) and great breakfast. Access to most rooms is via a lift, so no carrying heavy suitcases upstairs (although there was one level of the hotel that was only accessible via stairs). Very close to St. Mark's Square and the the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. I will definitely stay here next time... More

This hotel is less than 5mins walk from the vapretto stop (san zaccaria). If you are intending to go island hopping (Murano & Burano etc), you can just purchase the tickets & hop onto the boats at almost a step away from the hotel. You can also purchase the tickets to get to Marco Polo airport (the ride is 1hr10mins)... More

Excellent location. Steps from water bus stop from airport. Walking distance to all the sights, restaurants, cafes. Very comfortable bed, beautiful sheets, best sleep we had in Italy. Quiet street off of main area. Would definitely stay again.

We were going on a cruise and this hotel was recommended by a friend. It is clean and centrally located close to Venice attractions and the water bus. It is within walking distance to restaurants and shops. This was our first trip to Europe and were pleased with the room. There was a security safe and a small refrigerator. The shower... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
