For my opinion, Hotel Bucintoro is ideally located: a 15-minutes-stroll away from Piazza San Marco, directly at the Laguna, not too busy at evenings. There are many options for an affordable dinner on nearby Via Giuseppe Garibaldi. Rooms are small but very clean and the staff is amazingly friendly.

A great little hotel, located perfectly location, with views of the lagoon and St. Mark's Square. 5 minutes walk from St. Mark's Square Staff courteous, well-designed and very clean. There is no comparison lodging in Venice to stay out of town. Bottom line It is highly recommended hotel

We stayed one night prior to embarking on a cruise and it was a treat! The view from our 4th floor corner room was fantastic - I couldn't imagine a more beautiful sunset. The nautical decor in the room was stunning - starting with the mermaid door handle and continuing to the beamed ceiling. Stefano and team were charming and... More

We stayed at this hotel as part of our cruise package with Virgin Tours and what a wonderful hotel it was. Before we went there I contacted the hotel to ask about accomodations for disabled people. They emailed me back immediately with assurance that our every need would be met. We were put in a room which had two showers... More

This is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed at!! The rooms were very spacious and clean. Also, its amazing view of the shoreline in Venice was the cherry-on-top for my stay in Venice. Would definitely come back!!

This hotel is decorated as a ship with beautiful wood walls and floors. The hotel is right in front of the river but just a little far from all the noise and commotion you can get from all the other tourists. Its like 3 minutes walking distance to the Piazza San Marco and the price for the room was really... More

We just returned from a four night stay at the Bucintoro; it's a charming hotel in a great area just far enough away from the crowds of St. Mark's Square. The staff was most pleasant and attentive; breakfast was very nice and our room (a corner junior suite) was relatively spacious and had a beautiful view of the lagoon. The room... More

Amazing location. Breathtaking views from our windows! Centrally located. Easy to get to via Vaperretto (public water taxi.) Awesome at night with all of the city lit up. Stores and restaurants easily accessible via walking.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
