We stayed for two nights in hotel Serenissima in Venice. The location is very good, 5 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco, close to vaparetto stops. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the room was very clean and quite comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but it did not disturb us. Breakfast was served in a small dining... Stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting the city of Venice. Cannot fault the hotel at all, the staff were friendly and helpful with directions to restaurants and tourist spots. Room was cleaned everyday and breakfast was nice and simple with a wide variety to eat! I would highly recommend this hotel :)

Just returned from a two night stay, hotel was charming and clean, we had a room overlooking the courtyard, with shower, the only downside to our room was that you only got one flat pillow, I personally like two comfy pillows and regulating the shower (either too hold or too cold) and no tea/coffee making facility in room. Breakfast was... More

Just returned from a 3 night stay where Michele and the team of wonderful staff made our holiday. We were part of a group attending a wedding and they couldn't have more welcoming...they even provided an iron to press our wedding outfits Brilliant location ...in between rialto and st marks Immaculately clean Breakfast has everything you need to set you... We first visited the Serenissima 25 years and returned lat week.Extremely welcoming staff.we had requested a room on the first floor as my wife has some mobility issues-no problem all set up as arranged! ( You need to remember that there is no lift here!) The hotel has been refurbished since our last visit - really nice.A comfortable double bed... More

This was a sightseeing trip for one of our group (others had been before). Central location was therefore more important than facilities and it more than met our needs. Ideally situated close to St Mark's Square, wonderfully attentive front desk (thank you Alessio!), tasty breakfasts and characterful surroundings. For the price it was top notch. One of our group had... More

Stayed here 2 nites as part of a Rick Steves tour. Highlights are the location (short walk to everything), comfy bed, good breakfast buffet. Lowlights are the lack of elevators (but the staff will help you), and the tiny bathrooms..if you are obese you will definitely struggle here. But all in all it was a decent place to stay. Tip:... I was not expecting much for a two star but it was clean and staff friendly. Great location in between Marco Polo and Rialto bridge. Take Rialto bridge when arriving as less crowded. You will get lost but remember certain focal points like rialto Bridge or a church and within two hours you will be ok. Hotel does not have... More

Had a very good experience here. The staff were all very friendly and my single room was comfortable enough with television and double bed. Only slight complaint was that the bathroom was tiny. Otherwise the hotel offered a good complimentary breakfast with a great selection. The hotel is perfectly situated in Venice. With some of Venice's biggest attractions only a... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
