We stayed for 3 days in October, having booked online. What a pleasant surprise - the location is great, the rooms are small but immaculately clean and the staff in the hotel wonderfully friendly.
Breakfast was great - typical European buffet style.

The location of this hotel is between the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. The breakfast is good. The rooms are small- typical for European hotels. The hotel staff was helpful in finding restaurants, sights, etc. It is reasonably priced.
Our travel agent booked this hotel for us, we had also seen reviews and figured it was going to be ok. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. It is about 5 minute walk to piazza San...More
Mid-range price with less than budget amenities. If you want a kettle in your room it's 3euro a night, cups to go with it another are another 2euros. The shower gel & shampoo are in one tiny sachet not big enough for a leg, let...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

It depends how heavy your bag is! I remember there being a few bridges to cross, where you will need to pick up your bag and carry them up and back down several steps. I had a small carry on size bag so no problem for me. I think the biggest problem might be if you arrive when cruise ship passengers are on the island. It can be tricky navigating the crowds and the steps!
