We knew we wanted to stay in San Marco but all the hotels we looked at were fairly expensive. This was the most reasonably priced one we could find and we were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted by friendly and helpful front desk staff who made us feel very welcomed. Michele, in particular, was wonderful. Breakfast was excellent and well... More

We arrived by Water Taxi about a block and a half away. Although the lobby and rooms are on the small side we gave it an excellent rating for the cleanliness, helpfulness, price, location& breakfast. We were maybe a 5 minute walk to a large market. We had the choice of a number of nice restaurants within a 2-3 block... More

The hotel is in a quiet area between Rialto and San Marco. It is a short 5-7 minute walk to either part, through the winding streets of Venice. The location is great and quiet away from the busiest places. The price is lower than most locations on San Marco, but you get quality for your price. The hotel is older,... More

We spent a lot of time looking for a hotel in Venice that was reasonably priced and central to everything and boy does this hotel fit it all. It was clean, nicely decorated and nothing was to much trouble for the staff. The day clerk, Daria, is awesome she was on top of everything and so knowledgeable about any questions... More

We chose this place because we wanted to stay in walking distanse to all the main places. The room was small with no extra chair. The tiny bathroom had a noisy fan which started when you put on light, disturbing any other who wanted to sleep. Breakfast was included and nice. Our second night we woke up at 2.15 am.... More

Dear Mr. Trond, The inconvenience that happened the second night of your stay affected you as well as other guests and our staff. I am sorry for what happened and for your bad sleep. Unfortunately, we have no means to select our guests. When 1 out of 1000 doesn't know how to behave, our staff can only act legally, trying... More

This was a nice hotel. The lobby/reception area was lovely and the staff was very friendly. We arrived early and were able to stow our luggage until the room was ready. Our room was comfortable and larger than I had reserved. The room was extremely quiet, even though it was front facing. Breakfast was also very good. The drawbacks to... More

The location of this hotel was absolutely perfect and made life easier being inbetween the major sights of Venice. The locations made it easy when arriving from via the Waterbus from the airport to Rialto - only short walk, couple of minutes. The staff on the front desk were always friendly and really helpful. The room itself did a job... More

Very nice hotel near the San Marco Square! Very helpful staff and nice selection in the included breakfast. Only note is that there is no elevator, although they will help you carry your bags up to your room so the stairs are not much of a concern. Would happily stay here again!

We stayed for two nights in hotel Serenissima in Venice. The location is very good, 5 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco, close to vaparetto stops. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the room was very clean and quite comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but it did not disturb us. Breakfast was served in a small dining... Stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting the city of Venice. Cannot fault the hotel at all, the staff were friendly and helpful with directions to restaurants and tourist spots. Room was cleaned everyday and breakfast was nice and simple with a wide variety to eat! I would highly recommend this hotel :)

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
