This hotel was chosen on a budget. I realise you get what you pay for- but sometimes there are things that you expect whether you are travelling on the cheap or spending lots on accommodation. The bedding in this place needs replacing. The pillows are ridiculously old and thin, and the throw over quilt is not inviting and comfortable. The... More

A really nice little hotel, great location, very original. A little tired in some parts but clean and tidy and nice complimentary breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely return here and highly recommend it to couples or families :-)

We stayed for two nights in a triple room at this hotel, and it is in a fantastic location - very easy to get around. The breakfast was also nice with a great view over the water. The room was OK, we purchased wi-fi from reception but it was not working. However the room was clean, and we were a... More

This was our last stop on our mother/adult daughter trip and I was hoping for a bit of a "tada" and this was it. It also came at a price, but worth it. Our room overlooked the canal and all that view brings to the experience. We watched the boats coming and going, the food off loaded every morning for... More

We stayed two nights at Locanda Ovidius. We very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is clean, the breakfast was plentiful and had enough items to be satisfying, the staff speaks English and were very helpful. The location was great for such a short stay as it is very close to the Rialto Bridge, water taxi stops, and a short... More

My husband and I spent three nights here. We flew into Milan and took a train to Venice, arrived around 3 pm. From there we took the 1 bus boat? along the Grand Canal. Our room was ready for us. We had a 2nd floor room and we overlooked Calle del Sturion. The room was interestingly decorated, it was green... More

hotel is at a good location and the only reason that we need to pay more? its a usual hotel with basic amenities. Also thee is no wifi in the room. Need to come to the living area to get connected. Breakfast is also normal and nothing special. So I feel this is certainly overpriced ! Although we had a... More

We rent a room for 4[2 adults and 2 chidren]. We get a big room, without canal view, but very nice. Good bathroom. The TV we had was very, but very small. It is the only bemol for this hotel. Nice people in the reception, and very helpful. The brekfast is nice, and there is a wonderful view on the grand canal.

Woo how lucky were we to find this place so very last minute! I desperately wanted a Grand Canal view and i wanted to get it at a reasonable price ( i dont tend to spend much time in the hotel so didn't want to over pay). We were pleasantly suprised by the location and the hotel. Our room had... More

We had a great location right on the canal with a clean room. Breakfast was good and the view excellent. They make you leave the key behind which is a bit strange and awkward when there isn't anyone at the desk and no ID check when there is someone there. It worked well but I'd try someplace else that was... More

At the reception there is always a person, for the security of all. Probably the clerk on duty at that time had been called by a customer, Anyway thanks for your feedback; hoping you would like, next time, stay with us, send our best regards More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
