Perfect hotel in a fabulous location! I love unusual hotels - so to find this hidden gem was fabulous We took a private water taxi from the airport which dropped us right at the hotel doors. we had a lovely room with a great sitting area and then a mezzanine level with the bed on it! The room was fabulous... More

There are not enough superlatives to describe this hotel . Pure Venetian Romance with excellent staff and service. I had never been to Venice before and found the location excellent . Close enough to all the main sites without feeling too crowded. I would not consider staying anywhere else WHEN (!) I return to Venice

Spent three nights here. Great hotel decorated in the Venetian style. Felt like we were in a Doge's house with all the modern conveniences. We had a beautiful room with a canal view. Staff was wonderful and helpful. Recommend highly.

I booked this hotel for our family of four (two adults, a 14 yr old and 11 yr old) in part because of TripAdvisor reviews and I was not disappointed. Indeed, more impressed. A prior review mentioned noise issues, but our stay at Antico Doge was the quietest of the five hotels we stayed in during our Italian vacation, even... More

Very pleasant hotel, very clean,Helpful and friendly staff. I had a triple superior non smoking room which was very well equipped and comfortable. We were on the first floor next to the dining room, but was not noisy at all. We looked out on to the side street where there was shops and restaurants, however not noisy. The breakfast was... More

Loved the Antico Doge. Was very clean, staff very friendly, and hotel is centrally located. The Jr Suite with canal view was excellent. Loved being able to stand on the balcony and look at the canal and square! Only one thing to complain about: the air freshener in the room was too strong for my taste. Overall, wonderful time at... This is a lovely hotel. We arrived and were upgraded to the suite which overlooked the canal and bridge. It was stunning. Furnishings antique, amazing four poster bed, so much room and the view to die for. Very opulent and respite from the sweltering heat and oppression of thousands of tourists squeezing passed on a hot day. Breakfasts were delicious... More

The hotel Antico Doge is located in the area of Canneregio, which is good location to visit Venice since it is central, close to the main attractions but a bit away from the tourists crowds. The hotel and the rooms are in the typical Venetian baroque style. The bed was very comfy and the room spacious considering the Venetian standards... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Discover in the gothic walls of Palazzo del Doge Marin Falier, the magic atmosphere of old Venice, where art and history are the expression of an incantation. Facing Campo SS.Apostoli, reflected in the waters of a romantic canal, this is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in layers of silk, brocades, damasks and gilt mirrors that echo a Serenissima of long ago, a city of travel and commerce with the entire Orient. The Palazzo del Doge Falier, situated close to Piazza S. Marco and the Rialto Bridge, has been restored with passion and attention to detail. The hotel rooms, fitted with every comfort and elegantly furnished with original antique pieces, some have jacuzzi, separate shower cubicles, hairdryers, satellite TV, a direct telephone line, Internet WI-FI, air conditioning with individual room control, a safe-deposit box, and there is a buffet breakfast. The rich treasures of Venice, together with the elegance, prestige and history of our hotel, will make your stay an unforgettable one. ... more   less
