Hotel Antico Doge is at a central location that is accessible to shopping areas, and water taxi around the city and suburbs of Venice, the staff is friendly. The rooms are attractive, comfortable and inviting. Putting it differently, the Antico Doge is a home away from home. The Continental Breakfast is fabulous. There is a variety of dishes to choose... We stayed in this hotel for three nights early July and it was ideal. The hotel is situated in a great spot on the canal, in easy walking distance of plenty of places to eat and drink and not far from some of the main sites of Venice. The hotel was lovely and clean, the staff we met during our... More

This romantic city calls for a certain kind of hotel, and the Hotel Antico Doge is it. Crossing one of Venice’s many small bridges, you’ll find a door tucked beneath a covered walkway alongside a narrow canal. If you come by gondola or water taxi, you can step off right at the dock out in front. And you’ve arrived! Inside,... More

Stayed, for only one night, with my wife and son in July. This was the last place we stayed in our two week trip to Italy. Antico Doge was ideally situated between the more touristy areas and the less frequented ones, so in one day (arrived afternoon and left the next afternoon) we managed to walk all over venice! The... We stayed in a family room with 2 single beds down stairs and a queen upstairs, only 1 bathroom. Clean crisp white sheeting and towels, however I was not a fan of the loose carpets, feel they can do with a replacement. Beautiful decor, average continental only breakfast. No lift so be prepared to lug your heavy suitcases up the... More

I've been to Venice before and researched hotels very carefully as we wanted something NOT in way too busy San Marco area. These reviews are all glowing, some saying it should be a **** star rather than *** etc etc. Well, what the reviews do not say and what would have been helpful is knowing that the hotel is DIRECTLY... Beautiful spacious room with four poster bed plus two singles for my daughter and her friend and it didn't feel crowded at all. Very authentic Venetian soft furnishings, parquet flooring, rugs and chandeliers made it a welcome luxurious haven of relaxation. Balcony overlooking the canal and a small attractive square. Easy walk to main attractions.Breakfast was a continental buffet which... More

The location was ideal for a family; close to water bus system (Ca D'or) walk to all the touristy sites, most amazing gelato nearby, walked to neighbourhoods not listed in tourist books but fantastic places. Rooms were spotless, breakfast was plentiful.

Nice hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Used a shared water taxi, which dropped us off 400metres away, and only 1 bridge to cross. Good breakfast, efficient aircon. about 20 mins walk to St Marks Sq, past Rialto Bridge. Well signposted - easy navigation Will stay again!

We went back to Venice for our 40th wedding anniversary. After looking at quite a few reviews we booked this hotel, never been so glad we did. Took the bus from Marco Polo to the bus station in Venice, then the water bus to Ca d Oro. Walk up the alley way in front of you and turn right, walk... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Discover in the gothic walls of Palazzo del Doge Marin Falier, the magic atmosphere of old Venice, where art and history are the expression of an incantation. Facing Campo SS.Apostoli, reflected in the waters of a romantic canal, this is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in layers of silk, brocades, damasks and gilt mirrors that echo a Serenissima of long ago, a city of travel and commerce with the entire Orient. The Palazzo del Doge Falier, situated close to Piazza S. Marco and the Rialto Bridge, has been restored with passion and attention to detail. The hotel rooms, fitted with every comfort and elegantly furnished with original antique pieces, some have jacuzzi, separate shower cubicles, hairdryers, satellite TV, a direct telephone line, Internet WI-FI, air conditioning with individual room control, a safe-deposit box, and there is a buffet breakfast. The rich treasures of Venice, together with the elegance, prestige and history of our hotel, will make your stay an unforgettable one. ... more   less
