The first thing to establish this hotel is what it is, a budget hotel for travellers. Do not expect luxury or rooms more than functional and you'll be fine.
As a budget hotel for travellers though it is great, 2 minute casual stroll from the...More
The location was good, but that is the only positive. No elevator, just a steep narrow staircase to haul your luggage up and hope it doesn't fall on your head. Not even a flicker of signal in the rooms or lobby so no hope of...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

all the rooms has private ensuite bathroom except one, but you simply have to indicate you do not want ( or want because it's cheaper ) the external bathroom room. In any case it's not to be shared but exclusive use only.
I'm not sure about early check in. We dropped our luggage off on the 2nd floor. ( no elevator) It's basically some shelving behind a curtain. It is not secure but we had no troubles. We took all of our valuables of... More
I'm not sure about early check in. We dropped our luggage off on the 2nd floor. ( no elevator) It's basically some shelving behind a curtain. It is not secure but we had no troubles. We took all of our valuables of course. We also made sure that our luggage was locked. It didn't prevent someone from taking the whole bag but just kept someone from going through it.
