I recommend the Giorgione Hotel firstly for its location as it is in one of the most beautiful parts of the city, just a few minutes away from the Rialto Bridge. The attractions of the city are all around and nowhere is very far away. Getting there from the airport was easy too, as the nearest Alilaguna stop at Fondamenta... More

On arrival we were greeted with a most pleasant and smiling staff member and everything was dealt with expediently. Love the decor and the pool area. Great location - close to the water transportation, shops and St Mark's square. Also lovely to be in the quieter area of Venice. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.

The Giorgione was a lovely hotel clean and very beautifully decorated the reception staff were really friendly especially cosmos who tried to teach us some Italian. The pool was more of a jacuzzi than a pool but nice to relax in after a busy day and the garden was pretty the location was perfect it was 5 min walk to... More

Upon our initial check-in we were a bit disappointed with the room which, although "deluxe", was not quite as nice as pictured on the website. The room was small and furnishings a bit "tired" (pillows were like pancakes). That said, the cost of living in Venice is terribly high so quality reflects costs. The bathroom was very small and the... More

My husband and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon. Our room was very nice, it felt very classic Venetian. The location was also good- not right on the main road, so it was more quiet, and some good restaurants nearby. The breakfast was also good. Only negative was the wifi was pretty spotty. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely, classic Italy hotel. But it needs to realise it's stuck in the past too much. The staff were helpful, except for when I had to drag my own luggage up to the room. Not that I mind carrying my own bags but still... Not all the staff spoke English, but given we're not in England, I... More

This is a hotel that has charm such that I would happily return to it again when I next visit Venice and that is not a feeling I always have with hotels (and I visit very many in the course of a year through both business and holidays). If you don’t want to read all below then a brief synopsis... More

The pictures must be quite old, as the room and outside were more tired than the photos, the room itself was comfortable and had a full bathroom. The hotel will not allow you to eat or drink in the room, unless it is purchased from the hotel. Prices at the bar were very expensive - €5 for a bottle of... More

We recently stayed at the Giorgione and were really pleased with our stay. As a family of four we were given one of the suites which included a sofa and a pull out sofa on the lower floor and a huge bed on the second floor. The air-con in the room was very much welcomed in the hot Venice weather.... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
