Our family stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the ambience and position. It is a romantic and quaint property with the prettiest breakfast room I have ever eaten in. It is also well situated just north of Piazza San Marco on the Grand Canal.

Excellent room with a lagoon view. Very clean and cool during temperatures of 36 deg C. Room made up every day and foot towels by bed. Very good choice of food for breakfast. Staff very polite and available if any info needed.

We were hoping for nice, but this was lovely in every way. We even got our own private balcony with chairs for 4. We could see the Grand Canal & St. Marks campinalle from it. The staff was very nice but by the end of August, they seemed exhausted! Be sure to ask for the Hot chocolate at breakfast, it... More

My family and I recently stayed here for 3 nights and we couldn't fault it. We had the most fabulous room with a stunning view of the basin and the service we received from all the staff was excellent. It is ideally situated for all sights of Venice. A must is to dine in the small and intimate terrace restaurant... More

The location of the Locanda Vivaldi was excellent. The best thing about the hotel though, was the terrace looking towards the Grand Canal. The view from there was wonderful, especially at sunset. Our room, however, was very small and although it had all of the necessary amenities, it was not luxurious. I think that there are larger rooms and these... More

Dear Friend, I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay, even if you found your room a little too small. Unfortunately Venice cost a fortune to everybody, and the space here is one of the most expensive things. Our rooms are not small at all! sure thay are not as big as the one you find in Australia or in the... More

I booked this hotel for our recent trip to Venice. The location is amazing, the view from our room of the lagoon was amazing. The hotel is lovely, clean and well appointed. The automatic shade was excellent at keeping out the noise and light. We did encounter a few issues, one being the shower. It was getting hot, cold, hot,... More

Dear Friend, I'm sorry for the issue with the shower and the AC. Unfortunately it can happen that things break, but I think that the important thing is to find a solution, thing that has been done changing your room. Concerning the AC, I double checked all the rooms but I didn't find any failure. Please remember that Venice is... More

Our family (2 parents, 2 kids ages 7 &10) stayed here for two nights in late July in a quadruple room #102. It had a small balcony that allowed us to really enjoy the lagoon. The view was absolutely beautiful and the room was a good size for our family. The bathroom was a bit small but that was not... More

Our 2nd visit to the Vivaldi didn't disappoint. This time we stayed for a week in a superior room facing the Grand Canal and woke to a brilliant view 180degrees along the waterfront. We usually woke around 6am, and it was no trouble for Stephano, the night manager, to make us an eye-opening espresso. Breakfast from 7 30 wasmagnificent, being... More

Overall, I was extremely satisfied with this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again. The bed and linens were comfortable. The service was good. Turn-down service was a nice touch. The breakfast was bountiful and included hot items. They will even make cappuchino for you. Above all, it was very clean. The only criticism that I had would... More

Goodmorning! I'm happy to know that you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately the wi-fi speed is not the best of the world. We have three hotels here in Venice and all of them have the same issue. Unfortunately here in Italy we are very late with these kind of services. Concerning the laundry service you are right! there are often lack... More

We stayed here for my husban's birthday during the carnival and had a great time. The location is fantastic, right on the St Marks basin, opposite the boat stop and a few minutes walk from St Mark's Square. The hotel staff were friendly and the food was good. Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
