    The best hotel in Venice
We have been fortunate to have visited Venice nearly a dozen times in the last 35 years with our last 6 stays in this hotel. The location is one of the best next to the Grand Canal and opposite the church Santa Maria de Salute, (which is beautiful at night when lit) yet only a few minutes walk to St Mark's Square and the rest of the city. It is also very peaceful as not on a main thoroughfare, but has a Gondola and a traghetto (public gondola type boat for crossing the canal) next to it. The hotel is very luxurious in a typical "old" Italian style , staff are very friendly and helpful . Due to Covid the restaurant/bar menu are very restricted at this time only.

    Exquisite in every way!
The hotel exceeded my expectations! From the moment we entered and smelled the fabulous flowers, to the guest services desk, to the hotel room itself (complete with celebratory Prosecco for my 60th birthday and cookies!) - everything was perfect. The bathroom is one of the three nicest we have ever had and the breakfast on the Gritti Terrace was absolutely amazing. We were offered a discount from the standard E54 which is pretty steep to E36 per person per day and it was worth every penny. My only complaint is the price of the drinks at the Riva Lounge. $20 for one glass of pinot grigio is a bit steep despite the location! But other than that, everything was just perfect thank you! We also appreciated the Gold Elite upgrade to a slightly larger room and loved all the famous guest photos and signatures that adorned various corridors. The location is just perfect, right in the middle of everything in Venice and just steps from all the action and the vaporetto boat stop. One other small thing to advise other travelers is that there was only one USB port in the room to the side of the bed, so I was glad I had brought my travel plug with adapter with me. Thank you Gritti Palace for making my delayed 60th birthday trip fabulous!

    Once in a lifetime experience
It's been almost ten years since we visited Venice last time, when we could only afford street cheap eats and hostels which are way off the main iconic Venice spots. It's just like what our receptionist greeted during check-in that a lot of could have changed in ten years. We are so glad that we stayed at Gritti Palace this time, so glad that we didn't even want to go out to see Venice. The hotel itself is like an antique work of art full of exquisite and delicate paintings, furnitures, and decorations. We upgraded to a one bedroom suite, which is really spacious with a lovely balcony that could view the canal. All the staff were very kind and helpful during the stay. The breakfast was a true sparkle as well as the attentive service. We finally enjoyed a slow paced family brunch, which was rare back in home. It was so cold and foggy outside in the late Jan, otherwise I bet it would be really nice to eat outside in the summer.

We have been fortunate to have stayed here several times over the last 10 years. Even though the hotel is now owned by a chain of hotels, the hotel's family atmosphere still remains. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The view from the outside area is beautiful and we can never tire of looking over the Grand Canal watching "life" pass by. The rooms are very clean & comfortable with everything you require within. Breakfast, if required, is comprehensive. There is a more formal dining area or a casual lunch/dinner area in front of the bar. Hopefully we will return very soon.

We had a fabulous stay at The Gritti Palace. The location is fantastic, the service is outstanding, and the luxury is boundless. What a lovely breakfast on the canal! We celebrated our anniversary and my birthday, and they made it extra-special. The Hemingway Suite was spectacular! We decided to stay an extra night because we loved it so much.

The Gritti Palace is marvelous! Old world luxury with modern amenities. Welcoming staff and superb location. Enjoy breakfast, drinks, and/or dinner on the canal. Splurge for a suite for the ultimate experience. Hire a water taxi from the airport to drop you off right at the hotel. Walk to Piazza San Marco and more. I can’t wait to return. Thank you to Palazzo Gritti for our fabulous celebration for our anniversary and my birthday…I cannot wait to return!

I stayed with this hotel over 20 years ago and the staff, location and hotel was amazing. I wasn't staying here this time but wanted to book a table for six to have champagne and canapes to celebrate a friends birthday so we popped in to book. Quite frankly the staff were so rude. We were dimissed out of hand and told that we could come to the bar and see if there was any space but they couldn't guarantee it. The waiter turned his back and walked away. So Arrogant and very different from my previous experience of this hotel. We returned later that evening for a drink in the bar and were completely ignored for the first 10 minutes. Eventually we were given a menu but the welcome was very frosty. Not even eye contact or a polite, we'll be with you in a moment. This hotel's focus is on those staying there, they do not welcome outsiders and are so rude, I personally would never stay here again.

+1
The Grittin Palace, the building with 500 years+ history and has been well renovated not long before, we had good memory here. The ambience, indor deco and stylish room, undoubtedly an art gallery; on top of these “hardware”, the service is also the star. We had dinner in hotel restaurant “the doge”, food is so delicious and the view is unbeatable! Of course we also enjoyed all our breakfast there, sunshine with lovely daytime view, different but for sure pretty. All staff we met are quite friendly, thank you to you all that made my last stop of 2-week summer break a perfect ending. If I may have to raise a point that could be improved… breakfast à-la-carte selection (I mean free ones) is but limited, could be with more choices. All in all, still amazing! Definitely will go back.

Absolutely incredible. Exactly the way Venice should be done. I would 100% recommend booking the water taxi transfer through the hotel. It's 350 Euros and worth every penny. We were met at the door of the aircraft, taken in front of the queue at immigration, S-class transfer to the private water taxi. Wonderful start. The hotel itself is just outstanding. We had a room overlooking the Grand Canal, we had a hand written note, a bottle of champagne and some cherries in the room on arrival - a great start to our honeymoon. The room was exceptional; I have stayed in several 'Leading Hotels of the World' hotels and this one just tops all of them. I cannot fault it in any way. The service was second to none. This is a hotel for the most discerning client and clearly one of the few true luxury hotels in Venice. Book with confidence.

This was a trip of a lifetime for me, in more ways than 1. I had planned to spend my birthday @ the Gritti in 2020...and moved it to 2021...and moved it to 2022...and finally got to fulfill my dreams in 2023. As you can imagine- this pent up excitement was at an all-time high. The Gritti did NOT disappoint. From check in to check out, every single staff member was professional, welcoming and discreet. No signs of snobishnness or arrogance. Every wish was fulfilled with a smile and so quickly. Need a last min recommendation and reservation for the best truffle pasta? Done. Need to move your table at Riva bar to get closer to the canal? Absolutely, here you go. Need another round of pineapple mimosa for brunch? No questions asked We were upgraded to a suite in the height of peak holiday Jul 1-6 (i'm a Titanium member) and the suite was soooo grand and comfortable. The daily buffet b'fast (free for Titanium members and includes champagne and variety of mimosas), was extensive and very tasty- the variety of sweet and savory dishes was huge and absolutely delicious and stunning. To be able to sit by the canal every morning (when it didn't rain) to enjoy b'fast was SUCH a thrill. On days where we were rained out during bfast, we had pre and post dinner nightcaps which was so classy and bougie :-) On my birthday, they delivered a bottle of champagne, a dozen long stemmed roses (which i ALMOST took with me to Rome, our next destination) and orchestrated the best corner table by the canal for me for dinner. Hands down the best hotel experience i've ever had, bar none- and i've absolutely experienced some of Bonvoy's most amazing hotels around the world. The Gritti blew my expectations right out of the water (no pun intended). I can't wait to visit again- kudos to the Gritti team- if i could give this review 10*s, i would. Thank you for an unforgettable experience

We had lunch at the Gritti Palace terrace twice this year. Both times it was amazing service, nice and attentive staff, but the food was ok. The view, the atmosphere of the place is very lively. You can have a direct view of Venice’s main attractions from that terrace and at the same time it’s so convenient to walk at the Centre of the town. The hotel itself is a very beautiful old hotel.

Excellent hotel. One of the best in Venice. An absolute must is to sit out front by the canal having cocktails or lunch. Service was outstanding. Cocktails were excellent and up to the standards of what you would expect at a New York or Chicago high end cocktail bar. Concierge desk was extremely helpful and sharp. One of the best I’ve experienced.

Timeless luxury, unparalleled service, a wealth of history and experience. The Gritti is quintessentially Venetian, yet world-class. There should be no other option on the menu of the discerning traveller who aspires to the claim of being an "insider"! The Gritti is at the heart of Venice's charme, not just because of its incredible location, but also because of the immense amount of care in everything: from the architectural prestige, to the choice of accessories, to the food and drink relevance in every menu, and of course to the consistently outstanding yet discreet personal touch of service. We have had the privilege of sampling the breadth of offering, and found everything remarkable: dinner tasting menu, breakfast, spa, personalised wine tasting, concierge services, and of course the glorious room with a Grand Canal view. A special bravo to the concierge who, among other things, also arranged the amazing nanny for our infant: this was our first experience of leaving our son in someone else's hands and were thoroughly impressed with the extra attentive help received.
