Arrived late on first night of three with Voyage Prive and the hotel reception is not welcoming and to be frank quite a cold desk clerk and for so early in the season! Our room 302 was high up and the flagship room of hotel so thankful of that. Beds were spacious and clean white linen but pillow cases had...

We stayed at the Amadeus for 2 nights on 17 and 18/03/2017. The hotel is quite good(not wow), rooms are clean and even pretty. It is very well placed as it's not far from the following: - Rialto - one of the best place for shopping in venice - The casino - Not far from st marco place Things to...

This hotel might have been 4 star in the 50s, but now it's 3 (at best) based on the fixtures, fittings and amenities. The king size bed was two small singles pushed together (my feet almost hung off the end and I'm 5 foot, 2 inch). The pillows were extremely hard and when asked for others I was told they...

Nothing was awful about this hotel but I was somewhat disappointed. The bathrooms had mold and the hotel mini shampoo bottles left for us were half empty and clearly had been used by the previous residents of the room. Not the biggest deal but sometimes it's the little things that make the stay exceptional.

From a hotel so close to both train and bus stations and on the main tourist street my expectations were not high. However: 1. The hotel is surprisingly large for Venice, being proper hotel and not a glorified B&B. There is a large restaurant (open only for breakfast) and even a garden. The owners also operate another hotel on the...

This hotel was booked as part of a Super Break flights and hotel deal. The hotel is in a good location near to the railway and bus stations and close to a water taxi drop-off point. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were kept clean. There were some issues with the maintenance such as chips in the...

If you're getting into the city late & want as quick a transfer as possible from the Piazza Roma, the Train Station or the Vaparetto you've taken from Marco Polo airport, then this hotel would fit the bill. If however you're looking for something both charming and contemporary & you plan on staying a few nights, I'd strongly recommend you...

I'm beginning to realise that finding great hotels in Venice without paying a fortune is not easy. This was a great deal inc flights Voyage Prive so, as they say, beggars cannot be choosers. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is not bad, just showing signs of distress in places: but isn't that part of the charm of Venice. Pinning...

We were pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Took the public bus from airport to bus depot. 5 minute walk to the hotel.water taxis right outside and so easy to explore from. Right on the main walkway surrounded by shops, restaurants and musicians...absolutely charming and beautifully decorated. Loved the little tea garden ...didnt even feel like you were in the...

This hotel is in an amazing location with just a 5 minute walk from the train station and main water taxi rank. Step out the front door and you are in the heart of beautiful Venice. The hotel itself fits right in with the Venice decore. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
