Hotels situated close to large railway stations don't generally enjoy the greatest of reputations but this hotel certainly breaks the mould. Starting at the front desk (where else?), the professionalism with which this operation is run can be seen immediately. A warm welcome and despite arrival before midday, a room in readiness for us to drop off our luggage. Not a huge room but spotless - and I mean spotless enough to get approval from a senior officer of the grime police. No canal view but it's just outside the front door, if you come to Venice for that kind of thing. You cannot beat the convenience of the proximity to bus station (our arrival from the airport), vaporetto stop and the train station (our onward trip to Bologna). For what you pay for your stay here, you get value for money - not always something you associate with La Serenissima.

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed at this hotel two years ago for our 20th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely lovely, and we had the best experience with the staff and accomodations. The front desk person even went to college in my old hometown in NC! We had a great room on the top floor off of the large balcony. We are getting ready to book another trip to Venice with two more people in the next couple of weeks, and I am wondering what style (deluxe, superior, etc.) the room would be listed under. We want the same area of rooms if possible as we spent a lot of time on the terrace in the evenings, and will have extra guests that will need a room up there too. Thank you in advance!

Right at the edge of the transportation hub on San Marco, this hotel is cute and cozy. There is good food and shopping within steps. Gondolas and lots to do nearby or a short water bus or water taxi away. The staff was awesome and friendly. They spoke English and was helpful and patient with my weak Italian. Great place to stay and properly prices. Breakfast can be included if you want, and the rooms were really comfortable. My room had a huge comfortable king bed though it was a small room, it wasn’t lacking in the modern amenities or charm one would hope to see on a vacation there. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because my room didn’t have a view. If I had a view this would have easily been a 5 star stay. I’ll be back.

We enjoyed our trip but the mosquitos at the hotel made our nights awful. The receptionist Angela though was super helpful, always with a nice friendly smile. The location was very good as well, very close to everything.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Santa Lucia - all the staff were delightful and very eager to help (special shout-out to Angela on the front desk!) and my room was delightful, with all the amenities I needed. It is incredibly close to the Piazzale Roma, where all the buses from the mainland arrive, so very easy to make my way there once I arrived from the airport, and it's right on the Grand Canal, so amazing views every time I stepped out of the front doors! I would say: in terms of location, it's on the opposite side of Venice to St Mark's, so it was about a 30-min walk there, which I never minded, as Venice is so beautiful, but just to keep in mind! However, for an expensive city, I thought the Santa Lucia was a lovely, affordable place, and would definitely recommend it.

This hotel was adequate. The room was nice and the bath was modern. Elevators are small and slow. From the exterior it looks dilapidated but in fact it is fairly nice inside. It appeared to be in a state of restoration when we were there. The daily breakfast was better than at many hotels we ate at in Italy. The restaurant opens at 7 and coffee is not available before it opens. This hotel is on the Grand Canal and near the train station so it is very convenient. Realize that this is on the inexpensive end of the Grand Canal. Many restaurants, pharmacies and shops are nearby.

in spite of charging more than € 250, hotel does not provide complimentary tea/coffee or drinking water in the room. also there is no ironing facility in the hotel. The TV in the room is installed in such a manner that it blocks the full length mirror provided in the room. Disappointing. will find somewhere else to stay during next visit.

I travelled to Venice on a beautiful spring day. Paid 230 euros (250$) for one night in this hotel. They gave me a dumpster for a room (literally the windows opened to a dumpster). As soon as I got into the room I realized that the air is so damp and hot. The weather outside was amazing, so I opened the window but as soon as I did so, an army of mosquitoes flooded in and I got bitten everywhere. So I had to close the window and tried turning the A/C on, but it did not work because Italian regulations do not permit air conditioning until summer (this is what the hotel said). I got downstairs to talk to the reception desk and find a solution. They were unfriendly and aggressive. Refused to change the room and gave me one of those electro-chemical odorous mosquito repellents that did not help with mosquitoes but gave me a headache. I could not sleep through the night because of the mosquito bites and the terrible air in the room. Feeling tricked and fooled after paying 250$ on this 4-star dumpster in Venice, as the minimum expectation at a 4-star hotel would be to able to sleep!

Room Tip: Hotels in Venice are disproportionately expensive and not worth staying the night anyways IMO....

Stayed here with two rooms for 3 adults at the weekend. Great location and moreover, fantastic friendly staff at reception. Rooms were well sized and super comfy beds. Breakfast was great and staff happy to make you a cappuccino on request and not charge which I appreciate. Highly recommend the lively location which is near the train station (3 mins) if carrying a lot luggage like us from a ski trip. Well done all and will definitely come back - Grazie
