The eclectic and theatrical Metropole Hotel is superbly located just a few steps from St. Mark’s square and the venues of the Art Biennale Exhibition. A 5 star property that seduces with its sophisticated Oriental allure, attention to details and intense atmosphere. Among the highlights, rooms and suites with a spectacular lagoon view, attentive service and an impressive antiques collection. At the Metropole • Rooms and suites, furnished with original period pieces, precious fabrics and velvets that recall the tradition of Venice. Some are small, but welcoming, others comfortable and with lovely views; • The Garden, a typical Venetian courtyard with an antique well and surrounded by white gazebos, exotic palms, orange trees and jasmines, ideal for al-fresco aperitifs and breakfast in summer; • The Orientalbar, the Metropole Cocktail Bar, favorite venue for artists and musicians, famous for serving amazing Martini Cocktails, special selections of finger food and its signature Aubergine Parmigiana. It hosts a neon site-specific installation by the American contemporary artist Joseph Kosuth. Open everyday from 11.00 am to 1.00 am • News 2020! Metropole Spa & Wellness The Metropole Spa is an enveloping and Oriental-inspired place where to encourage the well-being of body and soul. It includes a scenic warm water pool, Hammam with aromatic essences, shower with chromotherapy, icefall and special treatments. An incredible sensory experience between candle lights and the fire to warm the atmosphere. Authentic hospitality The Metropole Hotel has been run by the Beggiato family, Venetian hoteliers for generations. Today, Gloria continues the tradition, but has introduced to the Metropole a hint of mistery and Oriental elegance, enhancing its unconventional identity.

Hotel Metropole is my best hotel where I and my wife stayed. My wife and I travel a lot around the world, but we have never been to a hotel like this. Wonderful. The hotel has excellent service, breakfast, beautiful rooms. The location of the hotel is in the best place, overlooking the main canal in Venice. My wife and I will surely come back again. I recommend this hotel. Robert Lexeklint

This is a lovely hotel. The staff is very attentive and the location perfect. There is a dock right in the lobby where they help you load and unload your bags so there is no pulling your luggage through stone streets. Everything is just perfect. Treat yourself to the spa while you are there and Roberta will take great care of you!

The good... The decor and overall ambience of the hotel was lovely. Many of the staff we dealt with were friendly and professional. The room was well-presented and decor was 'dramatic'! The location of the hotel was perfect for all of the usual sights of Venice but also for visiting the biennale. The bad... Breakfast was good but very expensive for what was on offer. Breakfast is only available from 7:30am which caused a problem when we had to check out a little earlier. no offering before 7:30am apart from coffee. Due to an itinerary change I had to check out at 7:15am, having already paid 40euros per person for breakfast I requested a simple take away breakfast or refund if this couldn't be provided. My request was refused by the receptionist and nobody was available to deal with my complaint. Coffee was available but I take exception at being charged 40euros for breakfast only to have just coffee available. Ironing facilities were not available for use in the room - apparently due to 'fire risk'. I have never experienced this in any other hotel I've stayed in. A pressing service was available but the cost per item was very high. The spa was only available for exclusive use at the cost of 200euros per hour. Whilst the hotel marketing stated the spa can be booked for exclusive use it is not made clear that that is the only access available. Complimentary water was provided in the room on the day of arrival however this was not replenished during our stay. The only access to drinking water was therefore via the mini-bar which was charged at a high rate. Overall a stay in this hotel was not the 5-star experience I expected and have experienced in many other 5-star hotels. The guest experience was not the priority and I was left with the feeling that the hotel was looking for any opportunity to make extra money from their guests. A stay at this hotel is not cheap and I have no problem paying their room rate for a 5-star experience but my experience was not 5-star so overall the hotel did not meet my expectations or provide value for money. I did try to raise my concerns during my stay but they were either dismissed, the receptionists could not deal with them or I could not speak with the appropriate manager to discuss despite my requests to do so (I was given conflicting and incorrect information from the receptionists as to when the manager would be available). I have emailed the hotel but as yet have received no reply.

The hotel is outstanding, very unique and has a great story behind the building. Staff are all amazing, rooms are comfy and the bar/lounge area is great in the evening for a glass of wine or cocktail. The location is perfect to explore Venice. We will return to this hotel for sure, if your looking for a 5* stay in Venice, the metropole hotel is a fabulous place to stay.

Grand, historic hotel with great location, superior service and great gastronomy. Our rooms (two separate visits on one trip) were immaculate, lavish and tastefully appointed. We would go to this hotel again.

Rooms too small. Food was bland, steak tough as shoe leather, maitre ‘d very condescending. I didn’t like the frozen blobs of cream I got when I ordered a tirimisu. He said chef was trying new things and basically I didn’t know what I was talking about. Housekeeping barged in room without knocking and when I complained she only laughed! It’s living on past reputation (I’ve been in 2016) back then it was excellent! Lost all of its “sparkle”.

This is a family run hotel in a great location around 10 minutes walk from St Marks Square and everything that that has to offer. (If you walk the other way from the hotel it is a lot quieter and has a couple of nice places for lunch). Like many of the hotels it has a water taxi dock and staff are always happy to help book these. Whilst very ‘Venetian’ in style, the hotel is definitely on the quirky side with dark dramatic decor and lots of cabinets full of collections of amazing artefacts such as crucifixes, fans and corkscrews. Each floor has a different theme and whilst it may not be to everyone’s taste we really liked it. Front of house and concierge staff are friendly and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. A special mention to Yacob who always seemed to be on duty! Breakfast is served both inside and also in the conservatory area with a good selection of teas and coffees, scrambled eggs and cold cuts. There are also small pastries and fruit, and croissants are always brought to the table on arrival. Breakfast staff are friendly and helpful. The Oriental Bar and Bistro is a bit confusing to be honest. There isn’t much choice but the Venetian and the Oriental canapés that we had were delicious. A special mention here to Luca who looked after us several times. Not many people use the restaurant in the evening which is a shame but I think that’s because of the lack of choice. The Bar itself is really small and cozy. It’s a shame that they don’t allow you to have a drink in the garden in the evening. We had a suite on the third floor which was large and very dramatic! Black wallpaper, black marble pillars and red and black items everywhere! It has a slightly cluttered feel but was all part of the hotel style. The bathroom was large with plenty of fresh towels available. Like the rest of the hotel it was always spotlessly clean. So all in all if you want a really authentic feeling hotel in the heart of Venice you could do a lot worse than stay at the Metropole

Was excited to go Venice this past summer. Booked the hotel Metropole, had everything planned and was one of the people impacted by the flight cancellations/strikes. Let the hotel know we were not able to make our connection since our flight was cancelled and that we were asking to reschedule since our new flight would get there the day of check out. They moved our stay towards the end of the trip but we were not able to move the rest of our trip around. Emailed the hotel within the original cancellation timeframe (48 hours) and they acknowledged but said they would still change the cancellation fee. Sucks but fine. Did not think about it for a couple months until i got a resolution from a dispute on my cc. A dispute? Usually means you disagree on payment. They had had issues charging my card because the numbers changed since I was hacked. But didn't bother to even let me know?????? All they had to do was send an email, call something.....no communication until a random letter from my bank. I travel a lot and It is of poor form. If someone has an issue at least reach out to them telling them you are trying to resolve it. They will never get my business again.

Location is excellent, right in front of Riva degli Schiavoni, just a short walk away from everything including Palazza Ducale and Piazza San Marco. We arrived by boat from the airport through the canals. It is a unique and romantic experience. Welcome is as expected. Small but cozy lobby and entrance. We have chosen a room with a small window to the side canal. The room, a canal-view deluxe was adequate in size for Venice standards and nicely decorated. At first when I chose that room type I thought that by canal it was ment to be a lagoon view, but actually it was a small view to the side canal. Nothing to blame the hotel. Breakfast is served in a magnificent area both indoors and outdoors. Unfortunately, outdoors there were plenty of mosquitos, something that you need to get used to throughout Venice at certain times of the year. Unfortunately we did not visit neither the spa nor the Orientalbar & Bistrot, where -as per the hotel's website - it was the Antonio Vivaldi's oratory where he ws giving music lessons and composed his masterpieces.
