I booked a stay here after staring at it from my room at the Hotel Canal Grande across the canal as I was decided to extend my trip. I agree with other reviewers than the rooms are a bit dated. However, I still give it 5* because the view is really excellent, and I don't know why people would stay in a hotel by the Grand Canal if they're not getting a room with a view. I was there for the view, not the room. And I am very grateful they gave me a room with a balcony, I sat outside most evenings after the sun set, just soaking everything in and watching the vaporettos go by. Also, this room was like half the price of the hotel I was staying at before, for a BETTER view. Hotels situated on this side of the Grand Canal have a better view over/into the bend of the canal imo (on the other side it kinda cuts off). The location is also very great if you're coming in from the Piazza, only one bridge to cross and then it's a straight path. So sure, the rooms are a bit dated, but people need to consider what you're paying... considering the price I find it's pretty impressive value and would definitely recommend. Dinner at the Japanese restaurant was also pretty decent, I've had Japanese food a few times in Italy and it's the only one that is passable. That said I think I was charged for 2pax though I was solo, but it's not a big amount. I wish though that they had opened up seating outside, I guess they didn't because of the weather but in Covid situation I think many would like to sit outside even if it's a bit chilly, we can just throw an extra jacket on. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and answered all my questions with warmth. Also not sure why everyone is complaining about the size of the rooms, I'm not sure they are comparing it to other rooms in the area because most rooms in Venice are this size, it's quite a standard size so it seems an unfair complaint.…
Great hotel, location great, plenty of restaurants and somewhere to get a drink. Having breakfast on the terrace by the grand canal was idillic. Room was clean. The bed set up was a bit odd, it was two single beds pushed together to make a double which is fine but they weren’t attached to each other and we’re made up as single beds which was a bit strange for husband and wife to sleep in. Other than that everything was perfect. Just a few minutes walk to catch the water bus to anywhere over Venice.
Just this evening returned from my first visit to Venice. Hotel Principe... What can I say.. From arriving via water taxi, we was greeted with such warm welcoming atmosphere from The reaction staff. We was quickly booked into our room without hassle. We had the pent house suite with varanda grand canal views. ( upgraded by the hotel, for reasons out of ours and their control) the rooms where spotless. Bathroom clean, fresh bedding everyday of our stay which was 5 days. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The room was more than adiquet and the bed was comfy for crashing out after our long days. The restraunt we only ate breakfast as we ate out in the evenings. Breakfast was tasty and consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, meats, cheese, and confectionary. Your basic continental breakfasts. The waiters where helpful and anything we asked for was no trouble for them. Hotel communal areas where spotless, all staff were pleasent, nothing was to much. Given the out break of the co19 they did there up most best to keep us informed, calm and panic less The location of the hotel is perfect for the avid walkers who like to get out and about without the need for transport. Hotel is located by the water taxis, 5 mins from the train station and bus routes. We cannot fault the location at all. We enjoyed the walks into San marco square which is a good 20 mins walk from hotel. Overall we loved the hotel and we will be booking to return and stay here again. Thank you @ hotel principe for a wonderful stay in your wonderful city. Wishing you all the best during this difficult time Venice you have a piece of our Hearts ❤️❤️…
A 4-star solely for the location. Right on thr grand canal with canal view rooms and balcony. You could just ignore everything else at this hotel and stay for the location. Most of the staff are elderly and not with a very pleasant behaviour. Breakfast is below average, no additional arrangements during the high tide. Had to stand on the 1st floor stairs to have breakfast both the days, due to high tide waters in the restaurant. The water usually goes down by noon, but no spare boots for the guests to use to reach the reception for checking out. However, location is all it has. 2 mins walk from the Santa Lucia Rail station and ferry stop. Amazing view of the canal from canal view rooms. Right beside a busy street with lots of places to eat and shop.
I stayed at Hotel Principe for 2 nights. Requested a room with the terrace on high floor. They did honor my requests. Good job!! The room is not big but big enough for a couple. Clean room with a king bed. A mini bar is available with a cost. There is a safe with electronic combination lock for you to use. The bathroom is spacious but a bit dated. The best part of the room in my opinion is the terrace. You will have a small table, 2 chairs and a lawn lounge chair. The view of the Grand Canal is magnificent from the room. Makes you feel like you are in a resort. The price of the room was fair considering the hotels nightly rate in Venice are not cheap. Also a buffet breakfast is included with the room. The location of this hotel is wonderful. 3 minutes from the train station. 2 minutes from the ferry station. There are restaurants and grocery stores nearby. There are 2 restaurants in this hotel. One is a Japanese restaurant. The other one is a seafood Venetian restaurant. Both have good reviews but quite pricey. This hotel is good for couples and solo travelers. The walls are thin in this hotel so bring some ears plugs. It was Valentine's day when I stayed there but he didn't last too long, approximately 10 minutes. …
