My husband and I stayed here with our tour group also. The location was amazing and the staff was very knowledgeable and kind. We went straight out the door to the Jewish Ghetto tour and then chekced out shops and grocery store. So conveniently located and elegant room with hardwood floor. I hope to return some day.......

The hotel is in a great location, we got the bus from Marco Polo airport and it is a short walk along the canal from Pizzale Roma to the hotel. Reception staff were friendly on arrival and a porter carried our bags to the room. The hotel is very warm, which is nice when you step in from the chilly...

My husband and I stayed here as part of a tour group. I dubbed our room the yellow room (132) as it is painted in light yellow, and an armoire with yellow highlights which I liked. It's a comfortable room with enough space to move about. It is without a view, so those who prefer a room with a balcony...

The location of this hotel is perfect, being in walking distance from the bus and train stations, which means you can transfer with your luggage easily and cheaply. The public transport ticket kiosks are here and you can catch vaporettas to almost anywhere. It is a lively area with a wide variety of bars, restaurants and street traders. Our third...

So simple to find from piazza or train station few minutes walk. Hotel reception area beautiful and staff very helpful at check in and throughout stay. Porter shown us to our room carrying our bags. Great hotel, lovely service, great location! Only shame was their wasn't a view and would have cost more than we paid for 3 nights at the hotel to change rooms. Room was decorated in a vintage style, everything you would want in a hotel by the canal in Venice. Would definitely go back to this hotel.

stayed 1 night in venice, this hotel is nicely located, 2-3 mins walk from the train terminal and there are a few restaurants just outside the hotel (no fear of going hungry). Room was clean and comes with free breakfast. In the night, room was a bit warm and stuffy, but it was ok after opening the windows to let...

The receptionists are the most unfriendly persons. During checkin we weren't greeted at all. We were treated like dirt. The internet didn't work and I went downstairs to talk with the receptionist. I didn't even finish the first sentence when he said: I don't know, turned around and talked to his colleague and then another customer, completely ignoring me. The...

To start. The hotel is within very close distance to the train station (about 2 mins walk). Also close to a water bus stop which is very convenient to travel back and forth. I'd recommend buying the daily or multiple day ticket to get your money's worth as the water bus is expensive. The hotel itself looks kinda old (see...

Travelling to Venice for the first time, and alone, the position of the Principe is within easy walk of the station and yet on the Grand Canal. Good welcome at reception and soon in my small twin, plenty of room for one. I would describe it as quaint, beautifully fresh and clean with painted furniture. In the marble bathroom everything...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
