4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Our room was what we expected as part of a tour group. It was small, but clean. The staff we encountered was very friendly. We loved the location. The view from the front sitting/bar area in the evening was lovely. Good breakfast.

With this hotel the first thing you must do is adjust your expectation. It is a 3 star hotel being sold as a 4 star. My guess is that because it is on prime location it gets the four star rating. Anyway once you are over that small details everything gets better. The cheapest way from the airport is by... More

Great location and comfort plus it was within walking distance to many cafes and bars. The location is a short distance to train station. Nice bar and dinner/drink tables located on the grand canal. Peaceful at night yet walking distance to many delicious places.

Hotels in Venice are much more expensive than in other cities in Rome. The room we were given was not great despite this. Service was so-so - not the most friendly, but generally efficient. We were able to access the train station on foot from the hotel.

Well located by Canal Grande. Fine lobby. Polite and friendly staff. Nice breakfast. We had a room at the top floor overlookin the Canal Grande. Great! Nice beds and quiet room. The room however was rather worn with loose wallpaper, flaking paint, noisy air conditioning etc. To make this into a 4 star hotel it needs to undergo some serious... More

We stayed 3 nights with our tour group here. A very interesting building with a hotel built into it. It's an old "palace" that was turned into hotel, so there's no real pattern to the rooms and hallways. That being said, the room we had was neat, clean & comfortable. We had a queen-sized bed in a somewhat small room.... More

We arrived early morning on the train from Paris to beautiful Venice. We chose this hotel as this seemed to be walkable distance from the train station and had a beautiful view. This is especially beneficial as you do not have to carry your luggage or board a waterbus especially if you are new to the city. As we arrived... More

Stayed for 3 nights. The only good thing of this hotel is the air conditioning! THe place is dilapidated : broken tiles in bathroom, cracks in the walls etc. The staff is not at all helpful: they even tried to overcharge me for things we never took. I wonder how they got their four star rating. Another acceptable feature was... More

We were originially taken into a basement room which we were not happy with. We then were shown an amazing large bedroom with a balcony view over the canal, so worth it! Fantastic location, we actually walked on a sunny day to the vatican. The taxi strip is only down the lane if preferred. Amazing resturants nearby, lots to pick... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
