Stayed at Hotel Principe Venice for 3 nights, Not at all a four star hotel, the foyer is nice & attractive looking but the room we were given was very small & basic, bed was uncomfortable & the room was freezing, ( was Warmer to stand in the hall) asked about heating but was told by reception there was none, asked if we could have an iron to the room but was told no, we had to use the hotel service, but our clothes would not be back in time, the room smelt musty & we were woken very early as the maids cupboard was next to our room and they seemed to congregate there for a chat, view was awful, we looked onto a wall which you could touch if you wanted too, there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room, but to be honest there wasn’t much in the room, 2 single beds pushed together, a table either side, 1 creaky wardrobe and a shower which soaked the bathroom due to the tiny shower screen, Venice is beautiful, but the hotel was our only let down, even breakfast didn’t make up for it, small basic selection, with Luke warm tea & coffee in tiny cups, better to use the bakery next door to be honest, they tried to charge us 50 euro for a damaged glass table top which should never of been in the room anyway as it had a table cloth underneath & slipped every time uou went near it, Venice is beautiful, Hotel … try another……
Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Provided a cot which was free of charge unlike the other hotel we stayed at in Venice. Can get a water taxi straight to airport from hotel €160. We had a suite which was very big and comfortable with two bathrooms, sofa and tv. Very Venetian design. Also has a fridge in room. We had a balcony that looks on to the canal which was lovely. Bit noisy at night though. Breakfast in the morning was very good and u can also sit outside at the canal and eat. Plenty shops next to hotel including supermarkets.
– On departure / checkout I asked for my bag. The bag staff were stood around chatting after they had been requested to retrieve my bag. I had to go myself into the bag storage area and ask them to hand me it. I told the receptionist that I had to do this and he shrugged his shoulders and laughed. Also on check-in we didn't find the receptionist particularly friendly...we had to go to the room to retrieve a passport from our bag in privacy and he seemed stressed that we wouldn't return to do the check in
Loved the firm bed, clean room (aging a little but clean and charming) and private balcony. Free breakfast was fantastic, nice variety and quality. Location was fantastic, far from St Marks action and close to the quiet streets of Cannaregio (and the train station, which was nice). We had a lovely stay at this property.
First time in venice for our honeymoon and expected a lot better.. The hotel is really old and so are the rooms.. The room was very stuffy and the AC didn’t seem to work well. When approached the reception, they said it works and just let it be. Very difficult to sleep at night and hard to breathe properly. The staff was nice at checking in and out and breakfast was decent. Hotel definitely needs updated renovation. Will likely not come back here
Some of the previous reviews worried me of our booking at the Hotel Principe however we were very happy with our stay. Excellent location (close to the station, right on the Grande Canal, easy to get to) , attentive staff, decent breakfast with a lot of selection, (it was great to eat breakfast overlooking the Grande Canal). Decent sized comfortable rooms. The hotel is dated and in need of modernising. Whilst some of the rooms like ours didn't benefit from the view of the canal but we got what we paid for. I dont think there are many better hotels in Venice that offer what we got.
I don't know how this hotel can be a 4-star hotel. We had a room in the fifth floor. The entire floor and room smelled really old and unpleasant. Decor, carpet and furniture was very old including the bathroom/shower. Run down really...Shower not really that clean. Asked for twin beds, was confirmed in booking but up on arrival it was a single big bed with one sheet. Asked to at least get to separate sheets before we went out - when we came back this was not done even though they said the would. On third attempt we got it. Airconditioning not very good. The breakfast was very limited in choice and seemed rather cheap and not at all sufficient for a hotel of this "rating". The "juice" was undrinkable, as was the scrambled eggs. The location is close to the train station/bus station which is nice. All in all I would not recommend it - there sjould be better options and it looks better in pictures and ratings. I think the more expensive rooms in lower floors are better though. The entire hotel is old and it is clearly visible. Upgrading is necessary if they want to be a real 4 star hotel.…
Overall, the hotel is very nice. Lobby is inviting, Front Desk staff helpful, and common areas clean. Hotel is right on canal which it's restaurants take full advantage of. Have breakfast or a late night cocktail outside and watch the daily boats pass. Great view. However, the room condition we got was horrible! The room was a decent size and hotel set up an extra bed as I was traveling with 2 kids. BUT, the wallpaper is literally peeling off the walls - and I mean ALL the walls. I went to turn up the AC when i noticed BLACK MOLD on the AC vents. I immediately turned off the AC and headed downstairs to the FD, but before doing so I went to wash my hands in the bathroom when I then noticed Black mold ALL OVER the bathroom molding & walls above sink. I was in shock that the housekeeping staff did not catch any of this. Totally freaking out (black mold is dangerous) I asked for another room, but was told hotel was sold out. The hotel offered to clean the mold instead. I would have gone to another hotel, but we were part of a tour group so we really had no other choice but to stay. Honestly after this, we were so unsettled the entire stay. I can only imagine the condition of the mold problem if the walls were removed. If this hotel was operating in the USA - it would be condemned and shut down. This is how bad the black mold was. Another irritant - no ventilation in bathroom so I can see how this black mold could thrive. The shower/tub (like all hotels in Italy) is very small. To be fair, the Hotel staff cleaned off the mold on wall with Clorox - and so the room smelt like that for a couple of hours. I cleaned the AC vents with some Lysol wipes I had. I wish hotel management or the owner would stay on top of maintenance. The hotel has a wonderful history and beautiful features and it's a shame all of these good features are overshadowed by details that can easily be resolved. I would not recommend this hotel until management improve the room cleaning & maintenance. Fix the wallpaper or tear them off!…
Only a 5 minute walk from the railway station, right on the Grand Canal. Reception was very pleasant, and cool. Staff friendly and helpful. Great room with small balcony overlooking the Grand Canal. If I had one complaint, I would say the king size bed was too firm, but that is my opinion. Great hotel.
Just came home after 4 night break at the principe fab hotel stayed in room 125 overlooking canal the room was spotless quite modern but with old world theme, the breakfast was really good with a variety of food to suit everyone, it’s a fab location to explore all the main attractions, the only thing they could improve on are the staff on the reception desk could be a bit more attentive to their guests but besides that we had a fab time and would stay at this hotel if we return to Venice.
