Aquavenice is owned by a sister duo and they are both beautiful inside and out. Aquavenice is their passion and you can see and feel that when you stay there. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights 4 days and I could not fault them one bit. They went above and beyond to help us in anyway possible.... More

This was the perfect B&B in an excellent location. The hosts were friendly and helpful and very accommodating. Our rooms were both clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served on time. We decided to share the breakfast in one of the rooms, which was no problem... more sociable. The water bus was just around the corner and the train station was... More

Cannaregio was recommended to us by a friend as a less touristy area to stay and it did not disappoint. Our hostess Maria couldn't do enough for us - lending us travel books and letting me use her printer to print trip tickets!! Lovely breakfast in our room and excellent location.

First, let me start by saying we love the proprietor! Maria Teresa is beautiful on the inside, and the outside. She was so kind, conversed with us, took care of our every question / need. The entrance is a very nondescript door in the middle of bustling action. We get up the stairs and the rooms are immaculate! Maria proudly... More

Venice is expensive, so spending your money wisely is an issue. We were very pleased with our choice. Room 2 was great. Plenty of space and well furnished and decorated. No feeling of decay here. The owners are terrific - nothing was too much trouble. While breakfast was standard continental, it was served really well in our room. Situated a... More

Our room was on the top floor, elegantly furnished in Venetian style and very clean, including the en - suite shower room, which also includes a basic hair dryer. The owner Maria Theresa is a very gracious and lovely lady. The breakfasts were delicious, tasty croissants, wonderful coffee , and fresh squeezed orange juice and other types of bread, jams... Great little B&B. A stones throw away from the train station and main bus station. 30 seconds away from the Grand Canal. Lovely owner, very attentive and always helpful. Breakfast served in your room which is nice touch. Lovely venetian style rooms. Excellent. Theres an ice cream parlour just opposite - lovely!

I stayed here with my wife for a long weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday in June. We picked this hotel as it had as great rating on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. Upon arrival at the hotel, the owner told us she had left a bottle of prosecco in the fridge for us, and two glasses in the... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
