The location ןin the Jewish Ghetto is very convenient to get by foot to all the importent sites in the city without difficulty. GUGLIE boat stop is near the exit of the Ghetto and you can get by boat to Murano and Burano islands directly. Reception staff exceptionally courteous and ready to help for any request. The rooms are comfortable.... More

Lovely, clean room with a fantastic view of Venice. Location is quiet yet only 7 minutes walk from the train station and 20 minutes walk from St. Marks Square. It is very close to 2 vaporetto stations. Winter rates were reasonable. Hotel provides "left luggage" room to allow for a final day of sightseeing after checkout.

I shared a room here with another person on a tour as we were both single. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and fairly roomy. The only thing was the heating was really up high and as soon as you stepped out of the lift it was incredibly warm and layers of clothing had to be removed... More

Clean, great, nice breakfast. Good location, nice staff. Would stay there again. Would recommend it to others. Got a good deal there and have no major complaints. Gave variety for breakfast. Wasn't noisy.

Don't be concerned about the location, you will love the tranquility of the piazza that the hotel is in and you will be so glad to be away from the crowds. The hotel rooms are simple and clean, the hotel staff are pleasant and the breakfast is ample. The hotel is on a canal which makes for lovely walking to... More

Stayed here for two nights in September as part of an Intrepid Italy tour. Rooms were good sized and clean. Breakfast was included which was a continental breakfast with breads, cereal and fruit. Wifi in the hotel was very slow and dropped out regularly. The position of the hotel was good and away from the heavy tourist areas but still... More

This hotel in the heart of the Jewish quarter was a joy to stay at. It was bright, modern, clean and friendly. Good beds and a great bathroom. Very helpful staff too. An easy walk to San Marco and all other points of interest. Quite close to the railway station.

My family of 5 stayed at the "Family Room" in this Guesthouse. More like a very nice Hostel... It was clean and though we had to request a couple of light bulbs to be replaced, it was pleasant. The breakfast is very simple, but sufficient and is KOSHER. It is on the grounds of a Kosher (Milk) restaurant (unaffiliated with... More

We were very pleasantly surprised with Giardino Dei Melograni. The position was excellent, in the Ghetto, with lovely views over the canal. Our room was perfect with good air con which really helped in the August heat. The Kosher House is very clean and the breakfast was more than adequate.Giordana (on reception) was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
