We spent 3 wonderful days in Venice, We stayed in a two bedroom apartment with canal view and balcony. The apartment was stunning, immaculately clean, great air conditioning. The bed was really comfortable had our best sleep here. Kitchenette was great although we didn't prepare a meal here just made breakfast. Plenty of coffee pods and tea bags etc provided.... More

The apartment was fabulous! We were impressed by the cleanliness and how everything was well maintained. The apartment was also modern yet luxurious. The location is excellent as it's very close to St Marks Square however we did had a hard time finding the building at first and to be honest we always used to lose our way back but... More

We booked this place through hotels.com with relatively little information. We just wanted to stay in an apartment rather than booking 2 rooms in a hotel for our family. When we got there (water taxi will get you to the front door) we were happily surprised. The place must have gone through a recent renovation since it looks bran new... More

We - a family of four - spent 2 nights in Al Bailo. It's a very nice large appartment in a quiet area but still only 10 minutes away from St Marks Sq. Very good value for money ... We arrived by car, parked in one of the parkhouses 'inside' Venice i.e. after the dam, took a water bus (from... More

These apartments are just a ten minute walk from St Marks square but in a lovely quiet area. They are extremely clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated and the girl on reception is very helpful. We stayed with our two teenagers and they had a separate room with 2 single beds. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay... More

Stayed one night for 2 bedroom apartment in early May 2016 for a party of 3. Rooms are very spacious with bed, sofa, closet, and still enough space to roam around. Bathrooms are also spacious and extremely clean. No breakfast provided, but you have a full kitchen. It is about 5 minutes walk to the St. Mark's square. When you... More

location is wonderful, close to everything in a distance walking. check-in and check-out perfect. only things I would have preferred a clear explanation on how to turn on the heating/AC as it seemed quite complex. big apartments, very cozy despite the kich silver furniture. super clean. definitely recommended

We booked into the Al Bailo apartments for 3 nights. Staff member was very helpful and informative. It was in a great location on a canal. It was only a short walk to St Marks Square. The apartment was very clean and spacious with 2 bathrooms. The only downside we found was it was very noisey thoughout the night with... More

The Al Bailo apartments are right next to a canal, less than a 10 minute walk to St Mark's square. Our particular apartment had two large double bedrooms which were perfect for the 4 of us, although there was a sofa bed if needed. There was a small kitchenette which was fine for making the occasional meal. Everything was meticulously... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Perfectly located, lovely view, spotlessly clean and helpful staff. Wouldn't hesitate to come back. The staff, available between 9am and 3.30pm gave us great restaurant recommendations and sorted our taxis to and from the airport. No more than a 5 minute walk from San Marco piazza.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
