Lovely house with well-appointed, spacious (for Venetian standards) flats. We LOVE the location (close to riva degli schiavoni and S Maria Formosa) and the view of the canal. It is well insulated, clean and comfortable.

This apartment block was situated in the most convenient of places. On a canal opposite a bridge, a short walk from St Marks square, the local supermarket,Pizza bars and the San Zaccaria waterbus terminal. What more could a person ask for? The 2 double bedroom modern property was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for a 4 day city break....

Stayed in this wonderful apartment for one night after our "Trafalgar tour" had finished. The reception staff were amazing and had sent me detailed instructions on how to get there too. One tip would be to accept the services of a porter because getting to this apartment with suitcases takes a lot of muscle (up and down steps and over...

The consistent 5 star reviews say it all really! We loved our stay in room 102, far grander and more spacious than we expected. The location is perfect as it's walkable to anywhere but much quieter than being further into the city. We caught the Vaporetto from the airport and got off as suggested by other reviewers at Ospedale. It...

Had a lovely few days here. Apartment is about 8 minutes walk to San Marco and 11 minutes walk to Rialto. Supermarket 3 minutes walk is handy for breakfast provisions. Area is not far from main tourist area but is very quiet. Activity on the canal is entertaining. I'd highly recommend a canal view. Apartment is clean, spacious and well...

We really enjoyed our stay at Al Bailo. The spacious apartment easily accommodated our family of 5 and made us very comfortable throughout our stay. The staff, while not there 24 hours per day, were very helpful in providing good restaurant recommendations as well as arranging a private water taxi for our departure to the airport. Excellent facility, excellent location,...

I was very happy to stay here. It was clean and spacious. Our room had two bedrooms, two full baths. a walk in closet in the smaller bedroom, and a kitchen/common room. It was well kept and being in the off travel season the price was great. I would absolutely recommend this to any traveler looking for a nice Venetian...

Our 2 nights at Al Bailo were a highlight. The 2 bedroom apt had lots of room for 5 with a huge loft and another seperate bedroom, living room areas and a kitchen. Location was close to everything but nicely out of the way of the main tourist zone. Would definitely return if in Venice again!

A clean, well-appointed apartment close to all main attractions and very reasonably priced. Emma was very helpful and organised all transfers. The welcome basket was a very nice touch and came in handy. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I unfortunately did not recover my bag in Venice airport -- it apparently was lost in Amsterdam in transfer. I was heading off to a cruise following my stay. Veronica from Al Bailo di Venezia was truly unbelievable - she went above and beyond. Of her own accord, she followed up while I was away multiple times with the airport...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
