I loved the hotel, The building, The furniture, The staff, Our room (actually not just a room. It was a two bedroom house without kitchen). There were three book shelves in our place, full of trip guide books and art books. Plus the hotel was very clean. Everything was great. If some day I go to venice again, I will...

My mother in law booked this as part of our honeymoon as part of our romantic trip to Italy. This hotel gave us a terrible start to our trip to Venice. Firstly the hotel was very difficult to find and if we had no if found a receptionist passing is we would had frankly never found it. The receptionist took...

Having an authenic Venetian experience... From the moment we arrived in the water taxi, Diana, the concierge was there to welcome us and spoke perfect English for our lack of Italian. Once we went to our room to settle, Diana met us in reception area to tour us on community areas where we found ourselves spending every evening! Remo in...

This Hotel use to be someone's home and everywhere you look there are beautiful pieces of furniture, pictures and chandeliers oozing Italian charm.....something you will struggle to find in the larger hotels. Its quirky you could get lost just finding your room but the attentive and charming staff are always there to help. Even in low season Venice can be...

This hotel is old tradition of Venice. But 300€ per night is little to much for such service and hotel offers. In another country this hotel will cost maybe 100-150€ per night. Picture show window view what is great. I have taken exclusive suites rooms and another night same category room but penthouse. Hotel need a lot of improvement to...

Great, central location. Friendly staff who were also helpful to identify important sights within Venice. Nice room, although located a couple of minutes walk away from main hotel building - more of an apartment rather than hotel room.

This is a typical Venetian style palace; old, beautiful and a bit cracked and worn - though very well maintained. Our rooms were good and the staff were helpful, cheerful and friendly. The location is superb and the views off the terrace are wonderful. I overheard someone complain about cracks on their bedroom cieling and our bedroom floors were crumbly...

We did feel like royalty in this hotel, but royalty who had seen better days. Our suite was huge -- the master bedroom alone was at least 300 square feet -- but certainly not perfect. Hundreds of old paperback books lined the shelves. There were some cracks in the bathroom ceiling. An ancient lingerie cabinet with broken drawers held pride...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
