We stayed in the week running up to Christmas and I could not fault the hotel at all. There were some repair works happening to the hotel and the rialto but things like that happen. They provided me with a huge basket of gluten free food every breakfast (I had previously emailed to ask if there was gluten free selection... More

After much search, we booked Hotel Rialto and that was a perfect choice. Fantastic location and friendly staff , nice breakfast, surrounded by restaurants and shops. We could go for long walks and our room with grand canal view was awesome. Would love to go back again.

Next to Rialto Bridge and water bus station. $2 Euro ride from the Rialto water bus to the train station. Next to two convenient and very reasonable coffee, bakery and sandwich shops. Room is small but average size for Europe. The décor looks like it is for a 10 year old Venetian princess; covered in pink fabric walls, hand painted... More

Stayed 3 nights with room overlooking bridge and gondola station, loads of activity and a great location in the middle of Venice to head out and see things. Room though was small and a bit tired, breakfast very busy and really basic. Overall not value for money at £200 per night b&b but then that's quite average for Venice.

Of course, there isn't much point in being on the Grand Canal unless you can open your window in the morning and look out at the golden glow of the rising sun on the palazzi and watch the men unloading supplies from the boats below, so make sure you get a room with a view! Breakfast is also on the... More

Stayed here a couple of months ago for 3 nights. The room was spacious and had lots of room for our daughter to run around. The breakfast buffet was average. Hotel staff were very knowledgable and very helpful. This hotel also arranged free tours to the island of morano to see the glass factories. Location is very central. You are... More

We stayed here for 2 nights of a 3 week trip to Greece & Italy. The location is absolutely perfect. The waterbus stop is literally right outside as well as a gondola spot. You are also just steps away from the Rialto Bridge. Our group included my family of 4 (15 yo & 18 yo kids) along with my 80+... More

We arrived by ferry from the airport, the stop was just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The main entrance is from the calle at the side of the Grand Canal. We arrived early but our room was ready. We had booked a room on a high floor, we were on floor 4 in room 414, the lift only... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Located right in the centre, overlooking the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge.
