This was a nice hotel, only two floors so no lift in the hotel. But the manager took my wife's bag to our room while I took mine. Decent breakfast and the room was spacious and well cooled by the AC. No reason I wouldn't stay there again.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Hesperia. The location was convenient to Many areas of interest and close to the Guglie stop for the Vaparetto boats. The included breakfast was very good. Martina at the front desk was exceptional with her friendly attitude and help with information for anything to do in Venice. Thanks Martina!

This is an excellent, rustic hotel in a great location in a quieter neighbourhood of Venice. Only 5-10 minutes walk from the station. If you were being overly critical you could say it needed a lick of paint here, a few new bits of furniture there, but the same is true of Venice itself. The staff were fantastic, breakfast was... After a bad start on our holiday ie ; being delayed at the airport and loss of luggage !we eventually got to the place that is when it all began to settle down , the family who run this hotel are fabulous and have been nothing but helpful with the whole luggage debacle !we would highly recommend this little hotel... A very well located hotel, less than 5 mins walk from the S. Lucia station, which is extremely important if you have luggage to carry. There are no bridges to cross from the station to this hotel. There's a Vaporetto stop (Guglie) a min walk away, which is convenient for going to St Marks square. The other main Vaporetto stop... More

This small, friendly hotel deserves much more than its 3 star rating. It's conveniently located close to a water bus stop for routes to most parts of Venice, without the need to change boats. It's also within walking distance of the train and Treviso airport bus termini. Our room on the top floor was well furnished and very tastefully decorated... More

We cruised out of Venice and stayed here on either end of the trip. The first room was small as most European rooms are and our private shower/toilet where down the hall from us (not connected but we're only for our use). The shower was small - about as small as the shower on the cruise ship. Our only complaint... More

We were very pleased with this hotel which we booked as a part of a very good value long weekend package with BA . Perfect for modest budgets, its location is invaluable. It is just across from 2nd boat stop of the water way that takes you from the airport to the city if you prefer to avoid the water... More

Hotel Hesperia is a family run boutique hotel situated near the Guglie bridge & water bus stop. I can't speak too highly of the hotel itself and the Staff. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and I was hoping to have a canal view room, little disappointed that one wasn't available however we were given a very comfortable studio room... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
