A short walk from the railway station. Quiet location, and near canal. Breakfast was excellent and included. Definitely recommend again. this location was excellent. Out of the busy area and you don't need a water taxi to the hotel.

Myself and my wife stayed at the Hotel Hesperia in September 2016 en route from a Mediterranean Cruise. The hotel is very convenient to the main rail and bus stations ( about 10 mins walk ) and the Vaporetti and Alilaguna boat stops ( 2 mins walk). However getting from the cruise terminal is more complicated than it looks on... More

The hotel is superbly well located - in the heart of the city but in a quiet area - Vaporetto on the doorstep - a few minutes from the bus and railway stations. Our room (207) contained all we needed - well furnished and very clean - breakfast more than enough to fuel the morning. In all a small and... More

Well located only 10 mins from the train and bus station. Perfect for travellers liking small , friendly and Venetian. We stayed in a basic room but it had exactly what we needed and the service was very friendly. Breakfast was lovely, good choice and a great way to start the day.

this is a lovely little place just near GUGLIE waterbus stop (ALILAGUNA ARGENTIO LINE) so easy to get to from the airport. Its on the north side of the island so away from the main crowds although there's plenty going on in the evening and bars and restaurants around. Easy to walk to some of the more 'local ' places.... We greatly enjoyed our stay here! The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The room and bathroom were clean. Be aware not all rooms come with a bathroom attached. Ours was just a few doors away down the hall which was never an issue, just unusual for an American. Our room had a view of the canal which was absolutely wonderful... More

Small friendly hotel, enough choice within the buffet breakfast, lovely little terrace at top of hotel. Great location slightly away from the main area, but very easily accessible, right near the water taxi stop.

My husband and I just spent three nights here for our honeymoon and were pleasantly surprised, firstly at our upgrade because of our special occasion! Our room was very nice, we had a view of the canal and the air conditioning works great! You do have to pay for the wi-fi however this is only 6€ and it works well!... More

Dear Madame. we thank you for the nice comment left, we know that some of our bathrooms are not big that's because the building is old and we cannot make all the changes we would like to do !!! I just want to point that what you say being an urinal it is a bidet which has a complete different... More

The Hotel Hesperian is located centrally but far away enough to eat locally without costing a fortune. Staff are very helpful, breakfast had a great variety, rooms were comfortable and had air conditioning, a roof terrace is available to use which we did. The nearest public transport stop is literally outside which you can go to/from the airport, lido and... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
