We stayed at the Bisanzio in late August 2016 and really enjoyed it. We had a quaint small room on the fifth floor and loved it. Breakfast was wonderful and the amenities were all we needed. The position of the Bisanzio was amazing. Only 80 metres from the promenade and less than five minutes stroll from St Mark's Square. The... More

Three couples traveling each with their own apartment. Lovely neighborhood with everything you need. The hotel can arrange everything for you, especially transportation. Also, this hotel is very convenient from the airport. The water taxi can drop you right off on the canal. If taking public transportation-very close to S. Zacharia station on the main canel. Breakfast was nice in... More

My boyfriend and I visited hotel bisanzio in July and we can not fault it. The breakfast food was nice and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was always clean and quiet. We are planning on coming back and staying here asap!

Ancient building close to San Marco. Lilies the place - rooms are basic but clean and warm. Spent here couple of days this spring - water runs well, no bad smell, bed is comfy. Good place to stay especially for the price I paid - around 90€per night

Location: getting to hotels in Venice is somehow complicated as there are no roads where the taxi can drop you at the door like any other city; so you see a lot of people dragging their suitcases around town to get to their hotel. This is not teh case with Bisanzio as if you take a water taxi they drop... More

To begin with , I want to talk about the price comparison. During our trip to Italy we stay at two 4-star hotels. One in Rome and one here. The rome hotel was half the price of this hotel and more benefits and luxury. Maybe this is because it is Venice ? (Is Rome Cheap?) Nice bed, nice shower, nice... More

Just come back from a three night stay with my sister. Lovely hotel and very helpful, friendly staff. The location is prefect - close enough to St Marks Square without being too close! Highly recommended. The only thing I would say is that the wifi is a little temperamental in the rooms but that wasn't a major problem.

Hotel was good and centrally located. Rooms were clean and spacious. On our last day we checked out of our room 10 minutes late as we were with kids. As we were coming out of our room a hotel staff named 'Luca' shouted at us angrily and started pointing fingers at us for checking out 10 minutes late. When we... More

Good location and nice hotel close to San Marco. Our only problem was not there fault. We arrived late and left very early by train. I should have thought and booked close to the train station. Our room was nice and the hotel was modern and clean.

My husband and i had a 3 night stay and it was quite comfortable. Location is great as you are walking distance to all the tourists spots, high end shops and restaurants. The room we had was quite spacious and had that old traditional feel to it. The bed was very large and comfortable and there was also a seating... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, in a location that is extremely quiet but close to all the principal attractions of the city, the Hotel Bisanzio occupies an ancient 16th-century palazzo that was once the home and “workshop” of Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important Venetian sculptors of the 16th century and a student of the great Jacopo Sansovino. A recent, careful restoration has allowed the Hotel Bisanzio to preserve the fascination of an ancient Venetian palazzo that is, today, equipped with every modern amenity, to ensure a relaxing stay in a structure equipped with elevator, air-conditioning, LCD TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Ease of access is not secondary when talking about Venice, where people almost always get around on foot. The Hotel Bisanzio is perfectly located, just 150 meters from the city's main public transportation stop (San Marco - Zaccaria), where all the lines for the other areas of the city and the adjacent islands arrive and depart. ... more   less
