The Londra Palace is not only in the most convenient close to the sights and Vaparetto but the staff are so helpful, the rooms well proportioned and decorated and the bar a pleasure to be in. The breakfast has everything including a delightful local Prosecco ! Highly recommend

The Londra Palace is the perfect jumping off place for Venice, 4 blocks from St. Marks square, but out of the mayhem! Service was fabulous by everyone, the open air tables on the grand canal were great people watching, and the room was just breathtaking. Highly recommend room 510, with a patio facing the grand canal, and a view of...

You get what you pay for. We enjoyed two fabulous nights in this superb hotel, located right at the San Marco arrival pier. No need to drag suitcases through the Venetian maze to find it. A warm welcome on arrival from very friendly and efficient front desk staff, we were upgraded to a first floor suite, which was a wonderful...

We came into Venice by air and took a water taxi to the Londra Palace, which we could see as we neared it right in the heart of Venice. We used Classic Vacations W3 Transfer service, they were right on time and drove us from the airport to the dock in a Mercedes. The boat ride was a great way...

We arrived in Venice by train and boat transfer. Luggage was sent ahead and was waiting for us in our room. Check in was fast and reception staff were efficient. Our suite was very good, large, with a big balcony with table and chairs. The view from the suite was amazing, overlooking the canal on one side and the city...

We found the Londra Palace to offer top-end luxury combined with sincere graciousness and eagerness to help. This is how it should be done. The location is fantastic, but you knew that: Great sunsets and people watching, plus easy access to the vaporetto, San Marco, etc. What's less obvious is that the front-desk staff are helpful to a very high...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
