We went to this hotel after I was looking through TripAdvisor on different hotels to stay at we were told by my wife friend about this location as this area is one of the best location now. This hotel from the moment we arrived by private water taxi and entered they came and took our luggage for us to our... More

This was our second visit, and it was even better than the first. A family of 4, we stayed in the adjacent building. The room was very modern and exceptionally clean. Electrical outlets with USB ports was a nice touch, as was the blackout curtain on the main window; we overslept and were shocked to find out how late it... More

Very good quality hotel. 5* I would say. Everything highly finished. Rooms good size. Good continent buffet breakfast (with scrambled eggs and boiled eggs). Staff friendly and attentive. Could not really ask for much more. Came early Friday so left bags with reception and came back to book in af 2:00pm. Same when left, booked out at 11:00am on Sunday,... More

We stayed at this hotel while visiting several cities around Italy. It was fairly well located within the city and was approximately 15-20 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco. On arrival we were told that our room had been upgraded which was a pleasant surprise. We were very impressed with the decor and feel of the space we had within... More

We arrived here early - 10am. Obviously our room was not ready that early. So we asked to leave our luggage so we could go sightseeing. The receptionist was most helpful and called a man to put them away for us. When we came back later to check into our room - Our luggage was already in our room for... More

The staff was wonderful and made us feel like we were staying in their house. The room was phenomenal with a balcony overlooking the side canal. Great breezes through the windows - even in late July! The breakfasts were delicious and the location was perfect! Everything was a short walk from the hotel. Very close to Academia Bridge, Salute' Church,... More

Very friendly and welcoming staff, willing to help in any way especially with luggage off the water taxi. Clean rooms of varying size. Room 402 in adjacent building was large with high ceiling. Felt very secure even though basement window had no extra security. Light at 530 am was bright (see picture) but city needed to be explored anyway. Great... More

Good visit, communication from the hotel was spot on, help with parking etc. We had a fab room, breakfast was spit on as well. Venice is what it is, you don't visit the city on a budget, but this hotel was one of the better value for money parts of my trip. I would stay here again. If I went... More

We chose this hotel for its quiet location away from the busy noisy areas and it did not disappoint! The breakfasts variety was nice. Our rooms were good and clean.. We were a family of 4, booked 2 separate rooms. It is walking distance to all areas in Venice and water taxi areas. What disappointed us was the lack of... More

During a 2 week vacation to Italy - on one lovely evening while having a spritz in a tiny street - my Fiancé and I suddenly realized we were physically stuck right where we were as high water (aqua alta) had unfortunately taken place! It was set to continue until 21:30 that evening and would cause chaos everywhere as people... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
