We stayed here in January for three nights. The hotel was lovely, very in keeping with Venice. Fabric lined walls, antique style furniture. Modern en suite but bring a hairdryer as there's are the old style tube on a wall. Also no kettle in the room but I asked and was given one. Decent size fridge and mini bar and... More

This is the loveliest hotel on earth!!! I cannot imagine a better place for Venice. It is so cosy and people are friendly who work there. The hotel is like you are at home but with better service. It has a warm environment with good facilities.

A fantastic city, with plenty of exploring to be done! A great hotel for a visit to Venice, based in central San Marco, approximately a 5-10 minute walk to St. Marks Square! Also very close to Rialto bridge on the grand canal! A lovely classic Venetian room, comfortable bed and adequate bathroom! Would defiantly stay here again. The reception staff... More

Small but friendly hotel. Excellent location, literally meters away from San Marco square. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only think lacking was maybe somewhere to get a coffee or drink in the evenings. But of course lots of places nearby to do this.

Lovely hotel with classic furniture, very clean spacious rooms. The morning receptionist guy( can't remember his name) and the evening lady receptionist Deborah are so sweet, friendly, helpful and caring. Wifi is free, breakfast is very good. The sitting area with chairs and tables outside the hotel is very nice. But the problem in Venice is that it is very... More

Contrary to other reviewers, I found the staff to be both friendly and quite helpful. We did a "room switch" at check in when my wife opened the bathroom door and found the shower drain next to the toilet with a simple shower curtain hanging overhead. Our next room was a liitle bit bigger and the bathroom a little bit... More

This hotel, like all hotels in the heart of Venice, are "overpriced" on the global scale. People think Tokyo or New York are expensive? Think again, and think Venice. That said, it was one of few choices during the high summer season with good quality room (good, not great), and excellent location. The bed was on the harder side, but... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
