This hotel is a stones throw from St Mark's Square and a short walk to the water us stops. The hotel is well kept and very clean. We had a twin room on the first floor directly above the reception and it was quaint but spacious enough for two. My only complaint was the space between the wash hand basin...

Central location, just a short walk from the Rialto bridge and very close to St. Marks Square. Amazing apartments, very large and modern. Nice extra is free afternoon coffee and cakes between 4 and 6.

An all round great hotel in Venice. The hotel is centrally located, it is a few streets away from St Mark's Square and a few minutes walk from Rialto bridge where the waterbus stand is. The hotel is on a side street, which means it's quiet - especially if you ask for a room at the back of the hotel....

Having just spent an enthralling first visit to Venice, we fell in love with the city within half an hour of our arrival. Our hotel was reasonably easy to locate being situated just off St Marks Square and we found the hotel itself and the staff very attentive and efficient. Initially the room did seem a little small but it...

Stayed two nights. The hotel's location is very nice, rooms are small but clean. Breakfast is quite tasty, only one down side was the funny smell in the room which i cannot describe like polish or something. I recommend the hotel.

The location of this hotel is as good as it gets. Our 4th. floor room was large and comfortable. The breakfast room resembling an Orient Express type wagon restaurant was another special treat. All staff members were very kind and helpful. The tiny street on which this hotel is located is something else. One can walk to the San Marco Square...

This hotel I would recommend to the short stay traveller. Hotel is central and close to all you want to see. Staff excellent and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were great although if you are on the walkway side of hotel it can get a bit noisy..But this was a minor niggle. Food was excellent with...

This hotel is in a great location, just off San Marco Piazza. It's a best western hotel. Don't expect glitz and glam, but do expect good old fashioned Venezia charm. The rooms are reasonable size, slightly tired but adequate. Breakfast is everything you need but again not bells and whistles. The staff are helpful and friendly. I recommend this because...

Hotel is 10 mins walk with a trolley case from the water bus stop for San Marco (buy a return ticket if coming from the airport as its cheaper). We arrived late morning on a weekend expecting to pop luggage into storage - wrong, room was ready, checked in within seconds!! Brilliant service. Room was a fairly decent size, bathroom...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
