If you want to be in a central location close to San Marco, the Kette is a convenient and pleasant hotel. Not as glamorous as some-- but the price is fair. Our room was quite spacious and had a large very modern bathroom.

We had a nice stay at Kette Hotel. The staff was friendly the moment we checked in and remained friendly throughout our entire stay. Always greeting us when we entered the lobby. The rooms are a bit small, but that is what you will find in Venice. The furniture was a little outdated and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. We...

The claim four stars....I don't know the system of measurement, but maybe it felt like three stars to me? I was in a quiet room on the 4th floor where I slept well, but it was very small, the carpet and smell dank. Thank goodness the weather outside was perfect. With the fresh air from outside all was made better.

I made the reservation through Expedia, for the time if the Biennale. Somehow the price jumped when I booked to $670 a night , which was non-refundable, though I called within 2 minutes to cancel. No way would they consider it. Now I am back and the price is $270, one day after we left! In any case, the staff...

I really don't know how this place is so highly rated. The only thing great about this place is its location. Our stay started off badly before we entered the door. We were struggling to get in the door, with three pieces of luggage and a stroller with twin 1 year olds, three employees in the lobby could see us...

Nice hotel, in a perfect location, at the heart of Venice (close to San Marco, Fenice…). Quiet neighborhood. Classical venitian style: just enough, but not too much/old. Friendly staff (English, French are spoken…) As usual in Venice, rooms are small, but above average. Very nice and clean marble bathroom. The included continental breakfast is adequate (good quality and enough variety)....

Nice place very close to La Fenice theatre and San Marco. Rooms are comfortable and the service is good. It"s a real pity that everything feels so aged without being vintage. It's like getting in a time journey straight back in the early 80's

Hotel Kette is tucked away in this alley but only a few minutes walk to St. Mark's Square and all those high end stores. Very helpful staff - it was nice of them to allow us to leave our luggages there while we went to Milan for 3 days. Rooms were clean and the included breakfast buffet was ample.

We stayed there one night. The hotel is accessible by water taxi... They go down the same canals as the gondolas. As a matter of fact, they went right by if we opened our window on the second floor.... They have a bar and a place to eat breakfast in the morning... Wifi was good.... All of the folks there...

Lovely typically Venetian hotel right in the heart of Venice. Great location with only a short walk from San Marco and all the beautiful restaurant's and gelato sellers. The gondolas are right on the doorstep and echo through the twist and turns of the canals. The hotel itself is efficient and has supplies an ample continental breakfast. My only gripe...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
