We enjoyed our 3-day stay here, only about a 10-minute walk to piazza San Marco. The room was nice, and the service was excellent. There were several reasonably priced osterias in the area. It was a few minutes walk to the nearest vaporetto stop. Overall, nice hotel, would recommend.

Okay, it wasn't so bad for Venice. There are nicer hotels I'm sure, but for the price and especially the location, it was solid value. Off on a quieter street, but just steps away from piazza San Marco and the grand canal, it's a great location. The hotel is clean, but the vintage, thick tapestry and old decor of the... More

After the long trip from Australia we arrived at lovely Venice at the hotel Kette. Lovely decorations with a roomy room. Staff were very friendly and made us feel at home. Stayed one night before going on the cruise and on our return stayed a further 2 nights. Whenever we return to Venice we will stay here again!

We spent four nights at Kette Hotel prior to commencing a cruise. It is a nicely located hotel away from the busyness of Piazza San Marco. Rooms are a reasonable size with table and two chairs for in room dining or sitting to read. Our room overlooked the alley which was quite a busy thoroughfare but we could still leave... More

My last stop before home after five weeks travelling, and it was perfect. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. They helped me find where I wanted to go and suggested places to visit. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bath was delightful after 5 weeks travelling and only having cold showers!

Spent 3 nights. Had room 136, canal view. Bigger than what I was expecting, modern bathroom. Had no problem with desk staff, all speak English and helpful. Small lift, 5 floors. Breakfast very satisfying. Very close to S. Marco, Doges Palace and the vaporetto stops. (If you are into history, must see Doges Palace. Get there before 9.00 and just... More

This hotel was in a good location and reasonably priced. The rooms were comfortable enough but had no tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast was a bit of scrum as the breakfast room was too small for the number of guests and people were rather crammed in. Choice of food was average but adequate. Got to mention the porter who... Good location, big and clean room. Breakfast nothing special. Bed was terrible, uncomfortable, and there wasn't quilt and cover only a smelly dirty rug.. We asked for a normal bedding but they couldn't grant a request. There is no chance to sleep well. Very overpriced.

We selected this hotel for its location and services and loved it. We arrived by water taxi - a real pleasure and the easiest way, albeit an expensive one, to get around in Venice with luggage. We had a spacious room, overlooking a small canal. Watching the gondolas pass by was a sheer delight. Some boatmen were real Pavarottis. Another... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Kette for two nights. August 4-5, 2016. Coming from Venice airport you are traveling by water taxi which will bring you right into the hotel. Staff immediately greeted us with smiles and was very warm. Our room was spacious and clean. We had breakfast buffet every morning which consisted of coffee, juice,... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
