We stayed here for one night in July. The rooms were nice- we had a two room suite. The hotel was in a perfect location. The breakfast was not very good and the front desk was not too friendly, but I would still stay here...More
This is a very nice hotel,if you get one of the recently renovated rooms. The ground floor is very shabby and upon arrival you think that it may be a dump, this is probably because the ground floor can get flooded when the water rises. The...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The taxi will swallow 6 adults plus luggage with ease. Depends where you start and finish as to the cost, which is for the taxi, not per person, so the more you have on board, the less the cost per person.

If you are going from the airport then the boat to Rialto is quicker (about an hour) than the boat to San Marco (1 hour 20 mins) so I would definitely go that route. We brought our tickets in the arrivals hall but there is a ticket booth by the boats so I would get them from there as there are staff to help which there is not in the arrival hall. They also have a private taxi but a lot more expensive.

My advice to you would be to contact the hotel if you are thinking saying with them, they are so very helpful I'm sure they would be happy to meet any dietary requirements you have.
