Just a few steps from some of the world’s greatest sights, Splendid Venice is a charming luxury hotel, as elegant as Venice itself. In the sixteenth century, it was an inn; today, it is a residence of rare refinement overlooking the canals and the Mercerie, the age-old streets, or calli, that link Piazza San Marco and the Rialto bridge. The sun sets on the Bridge of Sighs / the Ponte dei Sospiri . The gondolas glide by at the window. The old cafés in St Mark's Square /Piazza San Marco fill with life. A stay at the Splendid Venice offers this and so much more, with an atmosphere as intimate as a stately home, with spaces created for conversation, relaxation and contemplating Venice in all its splendor, in all its hidden corners. After a day exploring the countless wonders of this unique city, Splendid Venice is the ideal refuge; cosy, welcoming and, above all, suffused with warm, authentic, impeccable Italian hospitality. With a private mooring for boats, the hotel nestles in a central yet quiet location just a short stroll from some of the city's iconic landmarks. The 165 rooms and suites offer Venetian elegance at its finest. Many vaunt wonderful views over the canals and rooftops, the bell towers and the "altanas", typical Venetian terraces. All have luxurious, refined furnishings and exquisite details, where silver, brown and lilac set the tone for the wallpaper and damask designs that evoke the Serenissima’s textile tradition. Le Maschere restaurant promises a gourmet experience with an array of authentic Venetian recipes to savour. The spacious meeting room accommodates up to 35 people in a relaxed, private setting for high-level events and meetings. From the Les Clefs d'Or Concierge to the 24-hour room service, from the tranquil library to the chic altana, all our services are carefully crafted to make your stay unforgettable.

Okay, there are words. In fact I have many!

I travelled to Venice last week, with my friend (C), her daughter and her daughter friend. My friend has stage 4 terminal bowel cancer and the break was to celebrate her daughters birthday whilst ticking off a bucket list wish.

On arriving at our ‘booked’ hotel we found that, despite having proof of booking & travelling via the I I travelled to Venice last week with my friend (C), her daughter and her daughters friend. C has stage 4 terminal cancer and the trip was to tick a wish off her bucket list, as well as celebrate her daughters 17th birthday.

When we arrived at the hotel, booked via lastminute.com, we were told that there was no reservation for us. The hotel had never received the booking from the agent. . My friend was distraught and in agony. We had travelled 12hrs and she desperately needed to lie down and take her medication.

The hotel owner allowed us to use her foyer whilst we called the booking agent. The booking agent was completely unhelpful and blamed the hotel owner. We spent 2 hours trying to get it sorted; all the while C was in bits and in agony. We eventually had to book elsewhere or risk sleeping on the streets.

I called Splenid Venice and spoke to a receptionist. I explained our predicament and she immediately started to see what they could do for us. We booked two rooms, and the hotel threw in breakfast at a reduced rate. And so we headed out to the hotel, which was a 10 minute walk - hampered by heavy luggage, exhausted travellers and C struggling to walk.

Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted by two reception staff who immediately began to ensure we got comfortable. The following day my friend ended up being admitted to the local hospital. Throughout this time all staff ensured we were taken care of. And this continued until the moment we left - including arranging water taxis to and from the hospital, providing AND pushing a wheelchair to the water taxi to take us home (the tide was high so we had to head over to another spot).

From start to finish we were looked after and able to take comfort from the fact that, despite one of our party was in hospital, we had the safety of incredible rooms, air conditioning, amazing food and helpful staff.

I spent an evening up on the terrace, alone, and feeling quite upset that C was in hospital, we didn’t know if she would be staying in beyond our departure date, and if she was going to be ok. The waiter, on the terrace, was attentive, provided snacks and topped up my drink. It was a comfort to know that every single detail was taken care of.

The hotel even provided a birthday card and letter, for C’s daughter. A touch that was beyond appreciated - especially as she wasn’t able to spend the day with her mum.

Throughout our stay each staff member we met with provided an incredible service - sometimes going above and beyond their role - and we will be forever grateful to them.

Service: 10/10
Location: 10/10
Value: 10/10
Food: 10/10

We hope to head back one day, if C is able to travel again.

Thank you to all at Splendid Venice.

Arrived early afternoon to be helped off the water taxi by a lovely member of staff. Upon checking in, we were delighted to be given an upgrade to Deluxe Canal view room on the 4th floor. The hotel is located on a small side canal, but is a main picturesque thoroughfare for the gondolas. From the hotel it is approx 3 minutes walk to Realto Bridge or 3 minutes in the opposite direction to St Mark's Square ( a perfect position, although we did get lost numerous times, which is part of the fun of Venice!) Our room was a good size, beautifully decorated and fabulous lighting, ornate curtains with window opening onto the canal. A massive comfy bed and pillows with beautiful white fresh linen. Lovely bathroom with complimentary toiletries, soft white towels etc. A good size hanging area, with plenty of hangers, slippers and dressing gowns. There is a coffee maker in the room, and if you require any more coffee, just ask at the reception desk. There was antibacterial gel throughout the hotel, and masks were to be worn in all public areas. The breakfast room was lovely, but this was not self service due to covid restrictions. The chefs served from behind the counter, which did cause a queue, but that was only to be expected. After an exhausting day walking around Venice, it was so refreshing to go to the roof terrace bar and relax with a cool drink. I wouldn't say the prices were cheap, but then again nowhere in Venice is. The staff were fabulous and I would definitely recommend this amazing hotel.

We spent three nights here and chose it because it is so close to St Marks. We needed the directions on the website because the alleys and streets around it are labyrinthine!
Check in was smooth and we were pleased with our room which, although quite small, was well equipped with high quality fittings and luxury robes. We had a limited view of the canal and we appreciated having a bath. We did regret leaving windows open at night though as there were mosquitoes from the canal.
Although only one lift was working we had no problems with it.
The roof top bar was open for two of our three nights (it had rained on our first day there). We really enjoyed it as it has great views and we were served canapés and crisps with our drinks (expensive but only to be expected).
Service was very good throughout but breakfast was a little chaotic. This was not the fault of the members of staff who were unfailingly helpful and polite, but we think that management should have organised it better. Breakfast hours should be extended with perhaps a booking system for timed entries as far too many people were queuing for the buffet and it was very difficult to socially distance as there was very limited space. We were fortunate in that we managed to obtain the table next to the entrance all three mornings, but the other tables for couples were way too close together. We thought that was dangerous in these times. The food was great and there was considerable choice, but we did not feel very safe. Congratulations to the young lady who greeted us all however as she remained calm and professional throughout.
We didn’t eat there at night as there was a plethora of good restaurants in the vicinity serving delicious Italian food at astoundingly good value.

Our family of six stayed at this hotel last summer for two nights while in Venice. We chose this hotel because of its location and we were not disappointed. We were close to both Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square and all the sights in between. The hotel is located on a small canal is it is not easily reached by public transportation. We booked this hotel through Costco and they provided transportation to the hotel from the airport. We took a van from the airport to the train station where they had arranged a private water taxi to take us to the hotel. I would recommend arranging private transportation since it would not be an easy walk to the hotel from the vaporetto stop with luggage.

The hotel itself is wonderful. The rooms are on the smaller side but they were clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The beds are very comfy. We arrived at the hotel around 11:30 am after a long transatlantic flight and hoped that they would have at least one of our rooms ready, but they did not. They stored our luggage and we toured the city until the rooms were ready.

The breakfasts at the hotel were better than other hotels we had stayed in during our trip to Italy. We never had to wait for a table and there was a large assortment of food choices. Our breakfast was included with our room so I cannot comment on the cost of breakfast.

The hotel has a rooftop bar. It was a great place to have a drink before heading out to dinner and has a great view. We enjoyed spending time there.

If we ever go back to Venice, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We went for a birthday treat and weren`t disappointed. The hotel is very central, about half way between Rialto Bridge and St Mark`s Square. The rooms and decor are beautiful, immaculately clean and the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is expensive for breakfast (25 Euros per person) so it`s better to head down the lanes and find one of the many local cafes to eat. Also beware that the restaurants in St Marks Square are very expensive, go down the alleyways and you will find a treasure trove of authentic eating places.

The only word of caution I would advise is that they offer a free boat trip to the island of Murano to see the famous glass foundry, which is lovely except it`s very difficult to get back. The hotel concierge assured us it would be a maximum of 1.5 hours, but it took a lot longer and we were late getting the airport transfer as a result, so we didn`t have a leisurely lunch as planned. I think the glass shop wants tourists stranded on the island so they buy goods, and I had a distinct feeling they were not in a hurry to let anyone leave! So don`t agree to the boat trip unless you are sure how and when to get back.

All in all a lovely stay and I would highly recommend.

We had a very pleasant time during our two night stay at the splendid Venice in August 2021. This hotel is optimally located as it is just a short walk away from the Rialto Bridge or to St. Mark's Square. The front desk staff were friendly, quick and efficient at checking us in upon our arrival. Further the hotel room had both type A and type G electrical sockets to accommodate travelers from the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

I stayed here with my parents. The location is perfect less than 2mînutes walk from
San Marco and all the major sights. They even have their own mooring so you can get a private water taxi from the airport directly to the hotel door. All the staff are very professional and friendly. Rooms clean and spacious including kettle and coffee machine, mini bar and complementary bottle of water each day. The hotel was extremely clean and respect all the Covid guidelines. Breakfast is a bit chaotic due to the changes to the way they served because of Covid. Their customer service was excellent as my father was ill on the last day they allowed us a later check out so he could rest until the latest possible time. I would definitely recommend and stay here again next time I’m in Venice.

We stayed at this hotel in August 2020. The service from all the staff was of the highest standard and you are made to feel very welcome by everyone. There was a bit of a queue for breakfast but this is mostly due to the current covid restrictions and the food is worth the wait. The hotel roof top bar provides great views across Venice but is a tad expensive. The greatest thing about this hotel is the location being only a short walk to both St Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge. A perfect base for exploring Venice. The rooms are lovely, quiet and I recommend getting a canal view room!

I researched a number of hotels and finally picked this one for location and its water taxi launch. It was just what I wanted. Our room looked out on the water and we enjoyed the combination of a canal without the noise.
We found breakfast delicious and the staff extremely accommodating . They were careful to have guests mask which we appreciated while getting our food.
We took a water taxi from the airport and it pulled up to the dock and the porter got all our luggage-what a treat. The ride in was fantastic and alleviated my desire to take a gondola ride!
The hotel arranged for us to be picked up and taken to Murano for a glass making demonstration.Because it was free,I thought it might include a pressured sales pitch, but wanted to see the glass making process. We took the first pick up time and had a very pleasant trip over from "our doorstep." The demonstration was excellent and the sales pitch was only in earnest if you showed an interest in buying. Otherwise, you were left to wander . I highly recommend going as early as possible to avoid crowds. We chose a Saturday for Murano when we assumed the city of Venice would be more crowded. It worked well.
Our thanks to Hotel Splendid.I would choose it again.

The hotel has the ideal location for exploring Venice, it is situated right between Rialto and St. Marcus Square.
Friendly staff, especially Giorgio is a gem! He was excellent from first contact on the phone when he recommended me which room to take until I met him at the hotel. Very patient and customer oriented. Excellent! We even got an upgrade for Deluxe Room with canal view as we are a loyalty member. Thank you!
Room has a nice decor and what Splendid Venice really did well: Although room was rather small (but for Venice still on the bigger side) the room had an excellent layout with a lot of storage area/ surface. Very convenient for the guests.
We loved the canal view! For that flair you come to Venice!
Also loved the lobby area, with big windows facing the canal. And the decor, again, so tasteful!
Great that they have a rooftop terrace with lovely views over the roofs of Venice. Although a bit pricey.

Some things which I would like to see improved:
Room floor looked quite used, a little renovation would do good here. Also window was bit broken and Air condition quite loud.
Also breakfast was not 4 star like. Missed choice and product quality. After having breakfast the first morning I decided to skip it.
Also service was quite slow with the new COVID-19 measures (served buffet). Prices at the rooftop are quite high.

Nevertheless, I would choose splendid Venice again for our next stay. I made a lot of research which hotel to take, and Splendid was the ideal choice. It is the best central location! So easy to find from Rialto bridge.

We were just in Venice in December and stayed at Splendid. We took a private water taxi with Consorzio Motoscafi Venezia from the airport. The taxi dropped us off at the Rialto Bridge and we had a 5 minute walk to the hotel. The driver said they were not able to go to the hotel but there was some boat traffic on the canal in front of the hotel.
