Just a few steps from some of the world’s greatest sights, Splendid Venice is a charming luxury hotel, as elegant as Venice itself. In the sixteenth century, it was an inn; today, it is a residence of rare refinement overlooking the canals and the Mercerie, the age-old streets, or calli, that link Piazza San Marco and the Rialto bridge. The sun sets on the Bridge of Sighs / the Ponte dei Sospiri . The gondolas glide by at the window. The old cafés in St Mark's Square /Piazza San Marco fill with life. A stay at the Splendid Venice offers this and so much more, with an atmosphere as intimate as a stately home, with spaces created for conversation, relaxation and contemplating Venice in all its splendor, in all its hidden corners. After a day exploring the countless wonders of this unique city, Splendid Venice is the ideal refuge; cosy, welcoming and, above all, suffused with warm, authentic, impeccable Italian hospitality. With a private mooring for boats, the hotel nestles in a central yet quiet location just a short stroll from some of the city's iconic landmarks. The 165 rooms and suites offer Venetian elegance at its finest. Many vaunt wonderful views over the canals and rooftops, the bell towers and the "altanas", typical Venetian terraces. All have luxurious, refined furnishings and exquisite details, where silver, brown and lilac set the tone for the wallpaper and damask designs that evoke the Serenissima’s textile tradition. Le Maschere restaurant promises a gourmet experience with an array of authentic Venetian recipes to savour. The spacious meeting room accommodates up to 35 people in a relaxed, private setting for high-level events and meetings. From the Les Clefs d'Or Concierge to the 24-hour room service, from the tranquil library to the chic altana, all our services are carefully crafted to make your stay unforgettable.

Easily arrived at the private boat entrance. Not easy departing. Had to carry my luggae up many stairs and wait in a very dirty alley when departing. Hotel was clean. Murano trip was a complete waste of time. Treated like dirt because we didnt spend thousands on their art, Made to sit in the bad section waiting for boat to get back to the hotel. Don't waste your day!! Complained to the concierge but he did not care. Breakfast staff was very very rude and the food was barely edible. Hard to find hotel once you are out exploring. Lost for hours. Would never revisit.

Okay, there are words. In fact I have many! I travelled to Venice last week, with my friend (C), her daughter and her daughter friend. My friend has stage 4 terminal bowel cancer and the break was to celebrate her daughters birthday whilst ticking off a bucket list wish. On arriving at our ‘booked’ hotel we found that, despite having proof of booking & travelling via the I I travelled to Venice last week with my friend (C), her daughter and her daughters friend. C has stage 4 terminal cancer and the trip was to tick a wish off her bucket list, as well as celebrate her daughters 17th birthday. When we arrived at the hotel, booked via lastminute.com, we were told that there was no reservation for us. The hotel had never received the booking from the agent. . My friend was distraught and in agony. We had travelled 12hrs and she desperately needed to lie down and take her medication. The hotel owner allowed us to use her foyer whilst we called the booking agent. The booking agent was completely unhelpful and blamed the hotel owner. We spent 2 hours trying to get it sorted; all the while C was in bits and in agony. We eventually had to book elsewhere or risk sleeping on the streets. I called Splenid Venice and spoke to a receptionist. I explained our predicament and she immediately started to see what they could do for us. We booked two rooms, and the hotel threw in breakfast at a reduced rate. And so we headed out to the hotel, which was a 10 minute walk - hampered by heavy luggage, exhausted travellers and C struggling to walk. Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted by two reception staff who immediately began to ensure we got comfortable. The following day my friend ended up being admitted to the local hospital. Throughout this time all staff ensured we were taken care of. And this continued until the moment we left - including arranging water taxis to and from the hospital, providing AND pushing a wheelchair to the water taxi to take us home (the tide was high so we had to head over to another spot). From start to finish we were looked after and able to take comfort from the fact that, despite one of our party was in hospital, we had the safety of incredible rooms, air conditioning, amazing food and helpful staff. I spent an evening up on the terrace, alone, and feeling quite upset that C was in hospital, we didn’t know if she would be staying in beyond our departure date, and if she was going to be ok. The waiter, on the terrace, was attentive, provided snacks and topped up my drink. It was a comfort to know that every single detail was taken care of. The hotel even provided a birthday card and letter, for C’s daughter. A touch that was beyond appreciated - especially as she wasn’t able to spend the day with her mum. Throughout our stay each staff member we met with provided an incredible service - sometimes going above and beyond their role - and we will be forever grateful to them. Service: 10/10 Location: 10/10 Value: 10/10 Food: 10/10 We hope to head back one day, if C is able to travel again. Thank you to all at Splendid Venice.

For us was perfect vacations in Venice. Breakfast excelente, varied. Service was great nice team. Room super nice and comfy. You can see the canal from hotel windows. Just 7 minutes walking to the plaza. Plenty restaurants and brands stores around the hotel. 100% recommended.

Very comfortable and well decorated room. We looked out on a quiet side canal. Location is excellent half way between San Marco and Rialto. Service was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK but breads were pedestrian, yogurt was sweetened and the tea often came luke warm. We would stay again.

Excellent location, friendly staff. Stayed a long weekend at Splendid Venice with my husband. We upgraded our room to suite with balcony (can’t remember suite type, but room was petrol color and loved it 💯). Balcony had canal view (when you looked down to the canal 😉). We actually spent quite a bit at the balcony drinking few glass of wine and enjoying the Venetian relaxed athmosphere. Hotel did arrange a visit for us to Vernier glass factory (free of charge) and we did some super art piece shopping. It’s not cheap but you really get some nice items there. Also they arranged wooden boat rental with driver for two hours. It was perfect and highly recommend to do so. We saw Venice from every ankle 🤩. Our experience was very good however there should be more light in the suite and breakfast was the weak point during our whole stay.

I have never had a an experience like this before whilst checking out of a hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, we inquired the cost of an additional night stay; we were quoted a rate that my spouse and I agreed upon. When inquiring about the additional night at the end of our original departure date, the management of this hotel told us that we didn’t understand the pronunciation and we were to be charged an additional €300/night. The juvenile management offered no solution or apology but continued to blame our lack of understanding between the pronunciation of a one and a four. Sadly, this hotel fails to recognize that they represent the city and they should be ashamed at the lack of appreciation for people that travel to visit their location. The restaurant staff and the food were fabulous but the front desk needs to be trained.

We had a lovely stay at the Splendid Venice. The location is amazing! It’s perfect. Less than 5 mins east stroll from Rialto bridge and St Marks square. Surrounded by shops, restaurants and gondolas passing by. Lovely. The rooms were reasonable size - we had teenagers - 2 rooms. Very clean rooms and comfy beds. The lounge bar area was fine for a coffee or drink too with plentiful snacks that were complimentary in the bar. Breakfast was typical Italian (toast, pastries, eggs, cold meats and fruit) but plenty available and no rush from staff. Check out was brilliant as 1200 so no great rush to leave on check out. We would stay again, the location really is superb. Water taxis stop at the bridge as pier works but when that’s done the water taxis will stop right outside this hotel. Staff v friendly and helpful.

We were in Venice overnight, before boarding a cruise ship. Our original hotel was overbooked, and our reservations were moved to the Splendid Venice hotel. What a surprise: the hotel was exceptional, and the staff was attentive. Our room overlooked a small canal. The hotel was quiet, and the room was comfortable. The in-room safe was large enough to hold a 15-inch laptop. Breakfast was included and the food was excellent. The only issue was with the transfer from the airport to the hotel: the water transfer dropped us at the Rialto Bridge, and we walked to the hotel – not something I want to do again with cruise luggage. Our instructions to the hotel were inaccurate and we needed to cross two small canals. The transfer (with directions) was booked withan outside agency, not the hotel. The hotel was worth the walk. If we return to Venice, we plan to stay at the same hotel.

What a lovely hotel, close to St Marks square, clean, reasonably priced. All the staff are so lovely, the room was great, clean with everything you could want for. Bed was turned down at night time and fresh bottled water put in the room. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Couldn’t fault it tbh, tried really hard but could not find anything to complain about ☺️. Will come back to here if ever in Venice again.

BE WARNED!!! This is a one star tourist trap masquerading as a four star hotel. The photos on the website do not remotely resemble what awaits you at the most mediocre and terribly overpriced hotel I've experienced in decades. The first sign that this was not going to be at all what we expected came when we arrived to check in and found ourselves in a reception area that was a claustrophobic, long narrow room that reeked of sewage. I fully realize that Venice being a city built on a lagoon presents particular challenges, but something should be done to ventilate or add fragrance to the space that creates the first impression of the hotel. It literally smelled like feces, and this was unfortunately an all-too-obvious metaphor for our entire stay. After an inexplicably slow check in process, we were shown to the room, which to our dismay did not in any way look like what we had booked. We had reserved a "Deluxe" Room with a canal view, and this tiny cramped space was clearly one of their "Superior" rooms....at more than $700 euros a night! After raising the issue, we were moved to a slightly larger room with a back view that still did not resemble anything shown on the website. The room was dark, the walls were stained and furnishings were scuffed, but worst of all, we discovered in the middle of the night that the room was infested by mosquitoes. That first evening, we could not sleep as we spent hours being bitten alive and killing a total of 30 mosquitoes. (See the picture attached of the towel full of dead mosquitoes). We were especially concerned since we had never once opened the windows. Where were these creatures coming from? Were they coming in through the air conditioning duct? They were all over the ceiling, little black specks that would keep descending on you nonstop. At 2am, we called down to the reception and registered a complaint that we were very unhappy about this mosquito situation. But NOTHING was ever done! No manager ever addressed the issue with us or took the time to contact us during our five night stay. And this is the key problem of this hotel: it is so big and impersonal, you feel like you are just a faceless number at a corporate establishment. Any personal request we made, no matter how simple, was completely ignored. We had a formal event to attend on one of the nights, and before leaving for the day we asked for a suit to be pressed for the evening. We arrived back in the early evening to see that it was not done, and now it was too late to ask. And in five days coming and going at the hotel, no one ever looked up from the reception desk or greeted us. NOT ONCE. This was so different from every other hotel we had stayed at in Italy, where cheerful "Buongiornos!" and "Buono Seras!" greeted us constantly. It quickly became obvious that this hotel primarily caters to big package tour groups--we realized this the first morning at breakfast, when we tried to eat the inedibly bad breakfast buffet (powdery scrambled eggs and greasy bacon for $28 euros). We found ourselves in a crowded room packed with loud people that were hopping from table to table, clearly on the same bus tour of Italy. I wondered if any of them were paying $700+ a night for their room? From then on, we preferred to take our breakfast at the lovely Cafe Paolin nearby, which has the best macchiatos and croissants in Venice. On our final day, we checked out, holding our noses in the reception room that still smelled unbearably like a clogged toilet. I went to ask the concierge seated at his handsome desk whether he could help me call a water taxi. He looked up and replied gruffly, "No Taxi. Water level too high." And that was it! No offer to help find a solution when he could see we had so much heavy luggage to deal with. We managed to call a water taxi ourselves, and the kind boat driver moored at the Rialto and walked over to help us with our luggage. This kind, elegant Venetian taxi driver understood what service meant, while it amazes me that the concept was lost on everyone else at this incredibly unsplendid hotel.
