San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

We booked this hotel for a last minute weekend in Venice and it was such a good choice! The location was great, near Rialto. The neighbourhood itself is quite and cute with nice restaurants around. There are accepting animals, great for our little dog. Our room was big, confortable and super clean. In our price was included the breakfast. A large choice of food and a nice room with a terrace to eat in the morning. On the ground floor the little terrace offer a magical view on the canal where you can enjoy a drink or just seat to admire. Thanks to all the staff who were super nice, especially Sean! We highly recommend this hotel!

It is difficult for anyone to go anywhere, at the moment, but this is the place I most want to come back to. I have been to Venice many times and this is the best place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is luxurious, comfortable and beautiful. It is the soul of Venice, and I look forward to returning soon.

Staff was friendly and helpful. They gave us maps and suggestions on where to go/ eat. The hotel has all antique beautiful furniture. I was quiet. The room with the canal view was to die for. Defiantly worth the money. The breakfast was phenomenal! 10/10 would stay here again! We took a taxi boat to the hotel because we arrived late in the evening and walked to the train station upon our departure! Great stay!

My partner and I stayed here a few days ago. It is absolutely charming and wonderful place to stay. It's antique deccor added to the experience of staying in such a romantic and historic city. The staff are wonderful and friendly. I've read other reviews about issues with the bar and getting served. We had no such experience and the staff were brilliant. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.

There is no way this hotel is a 4 star based on UK ratings! It’s very old and outdated, it is clean tho so that’s an advantage. However public areas smelt so bad. And it wasn’t the canal smell. Beds are extremely hard, and pillows might as well not be there as so hard and flat! Staff on desk seemed friendly when spoken to, however tried to get drinks at bar and was just so slow man didn’t know what he was doing. I’ve seen other reviews saying that only certain can use bar. Then if that’s the case surely to stop bad feedback like this they should train other staff to do this. Also found hotel extremely noisy. From internal and external. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel nor would I return.

Dear guest, We are apologies that you had a bad stay in our hotel, anyway we want to clarify some of the topics you have described. Firstable, we need to specify that our hotel is an historical palace from the 14th century, and Venice in general was created before the middle ages, so you could understand why our palace is not modern. This is our main concept, and here in our city a lot of hotels have an old concept too. About the smell, we confirm that it's from the canal and we can explain why. Because our island is on the middle of water, the canals are also sewers. For this reason, when the tide decreases, the smell of the sewer comes out. All the rooms we have are provided with good beds and pillows (if there are problems about pillows, you could ask to the reception for more), but we can understand that every person has different opinion about them, so we respect it. And last but not least, the staff on desk are ALL receptionists and they are not barmen, so of course they do not prepared enough for making drinks or something from the bar. What they do in the bar during the night is just a favor, because we care about our guests whose want only to enjoy the night in Venice and to relax. In general the hotel and around are quite, but sometimes it could be noisy if we have a lot of guests in the terrace and the bar. We hope, if you would like to come back in Venice, to pay attention when you choose an hotel. If you want something modern, we should you boutique hotels or some hotels renovated recently. Best regards, Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto
