Arriving in Venice can be overwhelming when it is your first time in Italy. Hotel Arlecchino is walking distance from the second stop on the ferry from the airport, but rolling suitcases are not the best for getting over all the bridges. They greeted us with a smile, free storage of bags and a map of the city that I still have. When we returned from exploring our canal view room was ready. It isn't the Grand Canal, but I loved the small canals more anyway. I will never forget my views from my windows in the mornings and evenings. It is a quiet part of the city away from the crowds. Close by is Archcchetti Bakaro where they make the best Aperol Spritz and appetizers and Rio Novo (make reservations ahead of time). The hotel has amazing breakfasts and make sure to get a cappuccino. Coffee to go is considered rude. Italians teach us to sit and enjoy your coffee!!!

I am very upset that this hotel decided to NOT give me a refund for a room I booked for September. In light of the global pandemic I decided to postpone my cruise which I was to board in Venice. I can’t believe that this hotel is so greedy as to not give me a refund so far ahead. They just refused saying it’s their policy! How awful that at this time when people are losing their jobs they can be so greedy. They could have refunded me due to this crisis, I didn’t cancel because I wanted to. Money is not the root of all evil, greed is. Shame on you!

Response from hotel Arlecchino Arlecchino, Direttore generale at Arlecchino Hotel
Responded Apr 8, 2020
Dear Mary P., it is with real regret that we read your review. We always try to do our best in order to assist guest, especially during this tough period. Since the end of February we are experiencing something never happened before. This pandemic has literary destroy the situation we were used to, and we are facing with unpleasant and sad circumstances. We are a family small hotel and the first deep problem was that to assist all guests with prepaid reservations. Due to the lockdown Italy and other countries are experiencing, we are applying flexible policies which are voucher for future stay or refund. We do not want to lie: obviously we would prefer our guests to reschedule the reservation in one or even two years. However, if someone does not accept this voucher, has troubles in organizing a future stay, a refund is provided. We do not have a fixed and standard policy: each reservation is taken into consideration individually. That is the reason why we extended the chance of reorganizing reservations also with arrival date in October, even if at the moment there are no ban or no travel advisory issued by the World Health Organization. For us it is extremely frustrating to apprehend that someone of our customer had not been given this opportunity since it is something we are applying. Moreover, our deepest regret it that of giving a wrong impression of what we really are. Being defining as greed in such a moment, while we are facing with a huge crisis both humanitarian and economic, means that despite all our efforts, we still have something to learn and ameliorate therefore we kindly ask you to accept our most sincere apologize. Please, feel free to contact us directly at any time so we can check your personal situation. Respectfully, Hotel Arlecchino

The folks who run this hotel are wonderful. They have been very understanding and accommodating during the current mess. I would not hesitate to stay there and recommend it to anyone. We will definitely be booking there again.

This is the second year running that we’ve stayed here for the Venice Carnival and it was even better than the first. The staff are very friendly and efficient and couldn’t have been any more helpful. Our room was spacious and elegantly appointed with a distinctly Venetian flavour. The shower room was a delight, brand new and stylish. Housekeeping kept our room pristine throughout our stay. Breakfasts were delicious - plenty of fresh fruit, yogurt, cold meats, cheeses, eggs, cereals, cakes and pastries, the works! One of the initial attractions of Hotel Arlecchino was the location: just a two-minute walk from the bus station, so great if you don’t want to to lug your case across Venice or haul it on and off the water bus :) However, it is also just a lovely place to stay and close to superb restaurants and coffee shops. We will be back in 2021 for sure!

We had such a lovely stay for 2 nights here as a family of 3. We requested a canal view on booking and were so grateful to get a beautiful, spotlessly clean room with a wonderful view of the canal outside - my 9 year old would sit fascinated watching the Venice life go by on the water as soon as she woke up. Our room was plenty big enough for the 3 of us with a proper bed for our daughter instead of just a sofa bed/camp bed like many other hotels provide when a family shares a room. We arrived much earlier than official check in time and were allowed access to our room - much appreciated having been up since 2.30am! The staff were all so lovely and friendly. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with so much choice - Alessandra was extremely friendly and really made my daughter feel special with her attempts to talk Italian to her. Excellent quiet location - easy to walk into centre of Venice or hop on a Vaporetto and quick transfer time from the bus station to airport. This was our first visit to Italy and certainly won't be our last. A wonderful hotel in a wonderful city! Thank you to all the team!
