Nestled in an outstanding location with views of Venice, Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal has charmed many with its blend of modern chic and historical ambiance. Guests have called out the high-quality dining and spotless rooms with luxurious flourishes, yet some find the room sizes disappointing and have raised concerns over maintenance. Despite the attentive service and pristine cleanliness, the hotel's value is questioned by travelers who feel the cost is steep given the occasional service lapses and lack of certain amenities like in-room tea and coffee.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. We got a water taxi from the S.Lucia train station to the hotel ‘door’ which was really easy and we were welcomed with bags being collected from the boat and reappearing in our room, which was a spectacular Junior Suite which had the most incredible decor - the bathroom was amazing! Would definitely stay again. Thanks to all the staff for being so brilliant!

Absolutely horrible service. The bartender was incredibly rude to my daughter. As we were going to sit down at the bar, she went to the bathroom, he then followed her to the restroom and proceeded to rip her out not allowing her to go. My plan was for me and my husband to sit and order drinks, but his behavior made none of us want to spend an ounce of our money there ever again. This is definitely not a place that deserves company.

Dear Reviewer, I am sorry for the negative experience you had at our bar, experience born obviously from a misunderstanding. Our staff is in fact required to monitor the access to the bathrooms to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests. I assure you that we will take the necessary measures to prevent such situations from occurring in the future. Thanks anyway for your feedback that definitely helps us to improve the quality of our service. Best regards Enrico Mazzocco, General Manager

Beautiful hotel, perfect location, great staff, excellent full breakfast, very clean, luxury bathroom and linens. Stayed in Gold Leaf Room. A lovely stay. Not too busy as Spring. Personally would avoid full season in general. Three things needed for perfection!… . Mattresses and pillows are rock hard, need to be softer. . No Tea & coffee making in room - expected in 4 star hotel. . Room temperature way too hot. Showed set at 18 degrees but true temperature was 23 degrees (very uncomfortable and unhealthy to sleep in). Controls in rooms turned off by hotel (March). No airflow via window. Above seems picky but easy to fix for a 100% stay. We did still have a great time there..thankyou! 😍

Lovely hotel with spectacular service and views. We were to have 3 nights here but regretfully checked out after 1 night. It is a beautiful hotel with the most fantastic staff. The restaurant serves incredible food and wine with waterside views and 5 star silver service. The rooms are gorgeous and clean. I have a bad back so the bed was too hard for me so we regrettably had to checkout but we wish we could have stayed as the staff are absolutely amazing and it’s a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Highly highly recommend this hotel. But not for people who like a soft bed.

I was seduced by this hotel as it is almost on the St. Marks square, facing lagoon and still quite calm and not noisy despite masses of tourists flowing near by. We were greeted by special service, personal note upon arrival and a bottle of Prosecco for our celebration. All the small details counts! The room is very nicely decorated, not the biggest in terms of spacing, but enough to fit in and to comfortably spend time. Breakfast option is a good one, though we have missed fresh vegetables like at least cucumber or tomatoes. It is more typical Italian with lots of options of sweet stuff. But you can start breakfast with a glass of Prosecco and various different fruits. Hotel offers a complimentary private ride with water taxi to Murano island and a glass factory with the demonstration of glass art. Very nice option! Wifi was very stable and reliable. Hotel also features nice restaurant. Evening there was a pleasure time spent by enjoying tasty food, friendly staff and their warm, detailed service.

Stayed at this beautiful hotel and our room was gorgeous - there was even a turn down service the evening (this is something a lot of hotels have not done since Covid). The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly. Another wonderful feature of the hotel is the outside terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. We cannot fault our experience there and would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

This hotel is simply gorgeous. We were lucky enough to have booked one of the two suites with a balcony overlooking the canal. Absolutely stunning views (even when foggy!). With the carnival starting while we were staying we had a front row seat!. The rooms are beautifully decorated with luxury at every corner. The bathroom was something else! Turn down service, room service & cleaning all excellent. Breakfast was plentiful, very busy at times & on our first morning we were shuttled into the bar area which felt somewhat awkward. But we timed it better after that. Only criticism is, for the star rating & expense of the hotel, I would have expected tea & coffee facilities in the room. Either BBC world or sky news as an option on the TV would have been nice. I wasn’t planning on sitting in watching TV in a beautiful city, but we do like to catch up on events before bed. But this was, by far, the best hotel I’ve stayed in. Tip…take advantage of the complimentary boat ride to Murano with a visit to a glass factory. Just book a time at reception. Usually the taxi is $60.

Amazing. The location is something to behold. The staff are amazing and unusually so are the Management. We did have an issue during our break which can happen but the best of the best put this right and they did. We would like to thank Enrico Mazzocco - Direttore Generale & Ivana Valeria Soluri - Reservation Manager ❤️ The rooms are elegant and classic and feel like you are staying in a palace. Make sure you treat yourself to a meal in the amazing restaurant. Other hotels this would of been 3 star but if I could I would give 6 stars. Only one place to stay in Venice ! Thank made Christmas perfect

I loved it. It felt like more than a 4* hotel. Luxurious without being tacky. Great service and rooms and a stunning location a few minutes from San Marco. All the staff spoke excellent English, the breakfast was delicious and the wine by the Grand Canal was delightful.

Just arrived back in UK from our latest 5 day (Nov ’23) visit to Venice at our once favourite Venetian Hotel, The Monaco and Grand Canal. When I booked this trip a number of months ago I was told ‘’ book a Classic Double Room and receive a complimentary upgrade to a Superior Double Golden Leaf room’’ so I did! The truth is that the Monaco have spruced up their Classic Double Rooms and renamed them Superior Double Golden Leaf! I questioned this with the Monaco management, they stated ‘’ We confirm your booking made via British Airways, and are pleased to inform you that you will receive a complimentary upgrade to a Superior Double Golden Leaf room. If an extra free upgrade will be available upon your arrival we'll be glad to assign it to you’’ This was August 2023. On November the 11th at Check in the reception lady states ‘we are too busy, no extra upgrade for you’ Our room in the roof of the hotel which we recognised as a small classic double with some extra gold etchings on the walls - had a view of a building site. The porter showed us how to operate the room air conditioning unit which we tried to turn down as the room temperature was 22 C and stifling hot – nothing happened. I asked for help with the room AC – The Concierge and his mates (4) all said ‘’you cant adjust the temperature - just warm’’ The Concierge suggested ‘’ if its too warm you can open the windows’’ - this not being the 4+ star experience I am used to, and have paid for with the Monaco. The consequence of a hot room and open windows in a building situated over a lagoon is mosquitoes - my wife and I have arrived back in the UK covered with infected bites. The temperature in our room never dipped below 21.5 C . Two mornings at breakfast we had to queue and wait for service, which would have been ok if we had not been seen and ignored by the Maitre d’hotel.. no acknowledgement or greeting on those mornings. We were again ignored twice at lunchtime in the inside bar area, it was not busy, there were barmen and waiters, they completely ignored us, and we left the bar after 15 minutes of waiting without being served – The outside terrace area was busy with non-resident customers but that is no excuse for ignoring Hotel guests. The Monaco & Grand Canal is a magical place, the best located Hotel in Venice, It has been beautifully refreshed and decorated since our last visit, our room was tastefully re-designed and immaculate. The cleaning and service staff were wonderful, attentive and polite – The Management need to take heed It would take a lot to spoil a trip to Venice for me and my wife as we love it so – the Monaco tried their best. We did not feel ‘welcomed’ this trip - not good enough Monaco ☹
