San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Location is perfect, that's the only good point Breakfast was very basic. Cereals, stale pastries and some cold eggs with bacon. Do not pay for it if its not included. 25 euros otherwise Claims to have WiFi. Its not usable as single is non existent and you'd be lucky to get 2 mins connection. Same for mobile signal. We tried with 3 different devices. Shower is frustrating. Takes literally 30 seconds to react to a temperature change and little pressure Don't pay for the superior golden upgrade as its just 5% bigger than the standard room and nothing else. Overall very disappointing considering the image and price level this hotel is supposed to be at.

To have a nice afternoon wine on the quite empty terrace seems to be impossible, asking a waiter but he sends me to the other waiter, after 10 minutes the other one appeared and didn't welcome and didn't want to bring a wine card, table cloth was dirty too, not their best day...leaving without ordering, pity

Checked out The Monaco, their Bar was beautiful but unfortunately for us we couldn't manage to get an appropriate time. Alas. Harry's Bar is next door & of course Cafe Florian is also a must visit restaurant / cafe and is just around the corner.

Dear Graham S., thank you for your positive review. It is a pleasure to read you appreciated our breathtaking position on the Grand Canal. It is a pity you couldn’t taste our Bellini, home made with Prosecco DOC and fresh peaches! Our bar and restaurant are highly requested and reservation is suggested. I look forward to meeting you on the occasion of your next visit. Warm regards Enrico Mazzocco, General Manager

This was my third stay at this hotel and I found the experience very pleasant. No complaints. The room was peaceful. The food at the hotel always good and the staff were very welcoming. It wasn't my first choice of hotel but by a twist of fate we ended up at this hotel due to flooding at our first choice. But it all worked out superbly and the staff helped make it a wonderful experience and that makes all the difference, and the weather was lovely, Looking forward to returning.
