This hotel was booked without doing any proper research and largely based off its proximity to St Mark’s Square. We definitely lucked out with this hotel as it has the most amazing terrace on the side of the canal where breakfast is served each morning. You can also watch night settle in with a relaxing drink on the bar section...

The terrace is just absolutely amazing providing a great setting for breakfast and fabulous views. Service is highly commendable and even though expected from a 5star hotel, still attention of majority of staff was at a higher level than some other 5 star hotels visited. The only downside was an older gentleman at reception/check in and out desk (not concierge...

Known internationally and well regarded. We stayed at the Bauer this weekend for our 20th anniversary as both the children were on school trips. The service was excellent. The staff were very helpful. The concierge was great suggesting timings and schedules for us. Our room was in the main hotel overlooking one of the side canals of Venice, but with...

The Bauer is certainly reknowned and it should be. Five star service from the staff! We stayed here prior to boarding our cruise ship and could not have been more pleased. It is a 3 minute walk to St Mark's and maybe 10 to the Rialto Bridge. The rooms are adequate and very small compared to most hotels. But they...

A mandated flight layover after a cruise found us needing a place to stay for the night. Holland America suggested the Bauer it was a bit pricy but because of the location on the Grand Canal my wife and I chose it. The water taxi delivered us to the door a great entrance to the hotel. We arrived at 08:30...

Stayed at the Bauer on the Grand Canal for a long weekend break. Our room was in the annexe next to the hotel, but the quality wasn't compromised. The bedroom was adequate, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, including walk in shower were excellent. Having breakfast on the hotel piazza, overlooking the Grand Canal was a delight. The Bauer is a nice luxury hotel in Venice, but seems to be managed poorly. We loved the location of the hotel and the waterfront breakfast terrace is unbelievable. Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
