Our apartment in the Palazzetto was extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished. My wife and I were were warmly welcomed and had the intricacies of Venetian living thoroughly explained. Our spacious master bedroom opened off an elegant sitting & dining room suitable for hosting a small dinner party. The bathroom & kitchen were well-equipped. A curtained alcove with two single beds... More

Staying at one of the beautiful and spacious appartments of the Palazzetto da Schio makes you feel special, not like just one of the sometimes too many tourists, more like a real, traditional - if only temporary - Venetian citizen. The Palazzo da Schio is perfectly situated in Dorsoduro, near the Academia bridge and within a few minutes walking distance... More

We could not have found a better place to stay in Venice. The Palazzetto da Schio is in a lovely location, quiet but within easy reach of the city centre. The apartment is unique with lovely interiors.

We enjoyed our stay in Apt #3 tremendously. The apartment was clean and well appointed. We shared the apartment with another couple who were traveling with us. It was well located and very quiet. The Contessa and her daughter, Elisabetta, were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and Venice. The bedrooms were huge and the beds comfortable. The second... More

My third visit to Venice, my sister's first. I have each time stayed in the quieter area on the opposite side of the Grand Canal from (the very crowded) St Mark's square. Palazzo da Schio sits on a quiet and picturesque canal only 5 minutes walk from Salute vaporetto stop and close to the Guggenheim Museum. We stayed in Apt... More

This was our third extended trip to Venice but our first stay at Palazzetto da Schio. By comparison with earlier choices ( a four star hotel and an apartment in St Marco) we can only say that we wish we had learned of Palazzetto da Schio long ago. Contessa da Schio and her daughter Elisabetta Steiner provide old world charm... More

My husband and I stayed for four nights in apartment 3. We know Venice well and very much enjoyed staying in this well equipped two bedroom flat. The double bed was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The area is so quiet and peaceful and is our favourite location in Venice. We have stayed in many areas... More

My husband, our four children and I stayed for a week in February at apartment 3 at Palazetto Da Schio. And what a truly great experience it offered! The rooms were very spacious and light and did fully match the pictures we had been shown beforehand - we were not disappointed the slightest. My husband and I shared a separate... More

We stayed in the front apartment overlooking the canal. The apartment was comfortable and spacious. The Contessa lived in the apartment above us and was very helpful and gave us much interesting information about the house and the locality. Four of us stayed here for the last few days of Carnivale. From the moment we entered the canal by water taxi, to the moment we left, it was a joy. Five minute stroll in the morning to buy croissants for breakfast, to some very agreeable restaurants and to a vaporetto stop - couldn't be more convenient. Comfortable beds -... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palazzetto da Schio has been my family residence in Venice for a few centuries; the house is XVIth century, and I have completely restored it dividing it into 5 apartments, for myself, my relatives and for my guests.Apt N.1 «PIANO NOBILE» is my own home and it is available for all kinds of parties and receptions.Apt N.2 «TOP FLOOR/WEST» is on the top floor, at the back of the house: the view is very pleasant on the rooftops of Venice and the garden below. It has a bedroom with queen size bed, one bathroom, one sitting room (with a comfortable bed-sofa for a third guest) and a big livable kitchen. Apts N.3 and N.4 «TOP FLOOR/EAST» AND «MEZZANINE-CANAL» are, respectively, on the top floor and on the mezzanine floor. They are available all year round. The plans of these two apartments are very similar: two bedrooms (one with queen size bed, the other with two or three single beds), 2 bathrooms, one sitting room and a small kitchen. The top floor apt. has also a sofa trundle bed for two extra guests. All the rooms are on the front of the house with a very nice view over the canal and plenty of light and sun.Apt N.5 «MEZZANINE-GARDEN» is on the mezzanine floor on the back of the house ; it is very quiet, with a restful view of the garden with its medieval well. It has a bedroom with queen size bed, a living-room with an alcove (elevated from the floor) that has two extra beds, a bathroom and a kitchen. The furniture of all the apartments is mostly antique ranging from the XVII century onwards, but water, gas, electricity and telephone systems are all modern and independent. Each apartment is completely equipped with linen, blankets, kitchen ware, etc.We have Wi-fi Internet connection in the house, free for all the guests. The little garden is at the disposal of all the guests. We are in the Dorsoduro area, very close to the Salute, on Rio della Fornace, which is the second canal joining the Grand Canal to the Giudecca Canal. ... more   less
