We had a very pleasant stay at this lovely hotel. The hotel was located in a quiet area but very convenient to access to the main attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room and other areas in the hotel were spotless clean. The interior was tastefully decorated in a classy Venetian style. The chandeliers, draperies, mirror frames,...

Just returned from 2 nights in this hotel. We stayed in room 104 which was a family suite. The hotel is absolutely stunning, very clean and feels like complete luxury! It's not out of the way as others have suggested, it's a 20min walk to the square and the walk is lovely. The staff are fantastic and made us feel...

We were well cared for by the wonderful staff at Al Duca di Venezia who responded to our requests for all forms of assistance. Catarina and her colleagues at the reception desk guided us to some fantastic restaurants close to the hotel. At breakfast, the staff were very obliging and polite while the housekeeping staff made sure our two rooms...

A group of 12 booked the three apartments to share a night before a cruise. Located fairly conveniently to a vaporetto stop but enough out of the way that there isn't hordes of people traipsing past. Would be great for a longer stay or for a family.. although the one small bathroom in an apartment with 4 adults might be...

This was a delightful area of town away from huge crowds. I loved the location. The staff was completely wonderful, as was the water taxi to Murano that the hotel included. The breakfast was also probably the finest I enjoyed while traveling through Italy. But the wall of the room was chipping, and the owner needs to fix this! Otherwise,...

Hard to find, but what a great place once you arrive. Historic-but still a beautiful place. Would love to stay here if we ever visit Venice again! The staff here deserves 6 stars!!! We enjoyed the large "red" family room.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
