A really lovely b&b less than 5 mins walk from st Marks Square and 5 mins from Rialto bridge. Helpful and friendly staff, comfortable room and lovely breakfast. A quirky building. We had connecting rooms, ideal for a family of 4. Centrally located but not easy to find, pretty sure no hotel is in Venice though. The owner couldn't have... More

We were met by Matteo as we got slightly lost as arrived in the evening. We were very pleased with our apartment on the 4th floor, the 77 steps up there was not a problem for us but I should imagine very difficult for some elderly or someone with a physical disability as no lift. Our apartment was very clean... More

Very pleasant experience with a surprise twist. Prior to arrival, Alex (from the B&B) texted me to confirm and gave me directions how to get from the Aqualiguna to the Fenice theater. He personal came out to guide and helped with my luggage into the BB. Please travel light. The steps of the bridges of the canals make it very... More

This B&B is steps away from La Fenice, and 5 minute walking from San Marco square - I can't think of a better location to explore Venice than this B&B. We got a family room with two connected bedrooms, which worked really well for us - the rooms had views of the canal and we could watch the gondolas passing... More

Very nice room for a family of 3. Great service. Lovely position on canal from where you will experience all sorts of canal traffic and singing from gondolas. Breakfast served on trolley in the room but somewhat limited. Hotel position very good to explore Venice. Highly recommended. Will return.

The location is so central, the canal seconds from the entrance so you can hear the gondolas as they go past. A few minutes walk to St Marks Square, Rialto and Academia bridges. Very welcoming and informative host. Rooms are dated and the breakfast basic but for the price and location, can't complain.

The room we stayed in was really an apartment nothing fancy but nor was the price. Our kids room was basic but with aircon and our parents room huge with 4.8 metre vaulted ceilings. Remarkable. Yes it's all old style and their should be a duvet cover rather than just a sheet and an uncovered duvet but I think for... More

The location is very good, however, it is a little difficult to find. I got lucky and only had to walk up 1 flight of stairs. My sister was not so lucky, she had to get the room in the 4th floor, and it was tough for her just to walk up and down the stairs. She stored her luggage... More

We had a great stay at the Palazzo Minelli for 5 nights. We had the room on the top floor there is a lot of steps around 70-80 with no lift but it wasn't a problem for us. The room was very spacious with a comfy bed and roof beams. There was also a separate dining/kitchen area. A member of... More

My partner and I stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed it. we did not have canal view but our room was very spacious and the breakfast was great and plentiful! We had our own bathroom just outside our room which was no problem. The 3 flights of stairs were a killer, but we only had to do it once a day!... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
