We had a nice big room (with shared bathroom - not great, but no real problem) with great views across the water. Clean, nice breakfast, good service, great location, good value, so may well be back. Only problem is getting there the first time - if you take thee water bus and get off at Arsenale, then the directions are... More

We stayed in the Contarini room - wow spectacular and expansive views of the water front (see photos)! We felt like we had the best bargain in Venice, especially considering the charter costs of the multi-million dollar boats moored out front each night! (the Catamaran in our photo charters for 75,000 euro per week!) Our room was lovely and clean... More

My husband and I stayed here for four comfortable, quiet, cool nights. Our room shared a bathroom, with just one other room, and it also did not have any windows so was extremely dark. Which made for a great night's rest. Our internet service was excellent, and we really appreciated the fridge, as we needed lots of cold drinks! The... More

Spent days at this B&B, which I must say is perfectly located to visit Venice. But that’s where it all stopped for us. When we checked in (at A Tribute to Music), we were told that there was no Wifi connection because of some technical fault but problem was supposed to be resolved within 24 hours. Then, upon entering our... More

Located right on the Grand Canal, this B&B was so lovely. Our room, Contarini, was large and well accommodated. We had 3 very large windows with spectacular views. The room was off of a shared sitting are with comfortable couches. We had a shared bathroom with one other room. The bathroom was large and immaculate. Watching sunset each night over... More

Located at the edge of the tourist area, this little B&B only has 3 rooms. Two rooms shared one bathroom. We stayed in the room with canal view and shared bathroom. The magnificent skyline of Venice is clearly visible from this particular room (see pictures). The B&B is managed by a nearby hotel called "Tribute to Music". It is where... More

This was a lucky find. A very well situated B and B close to all major attractions. There is also a water bus stop just a few yards away. We had a lovely clean room with a view of the canal and a private bathroom. The staff at the check-in place were very friendly; they walked us to the property... More

Very beautiful place, nice rooms and lounge and quiet place, good breakfast, also you can use the freezer in your rooms. We went there this August and stayed in a double bed room with lagoon view. Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the view from the window is really very nice, specially in the night, we enjoyed with... More

Excellent location, nicely decorated. A decent size and very clean room. We had the Canal view with private bathroom in our room. The view was beautiful from our room looking out over the sea. The breakfast was very good compared to most B & B,s we stayed in on our tour of Italy. It was beautifully set up in a... More

This place is well located. Close to the city centre, but far enough from the busiest places. The rooms and bathroom were all clean, the house was absolutely quiet at nights, the breakfast was satisfactory. Olga took.good care of us. Venice is just too expesive :)

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
