Don't take the Water Taxi, they are expensive. At your hotel get the waterbus (hop on- hop off) map and I think it was the Number 5 stop which is near the Hotel Canal Grande to Murano. There are similar waterbuses for Burano etc from Murano, just ask there. We did Murano and Burano on one day and they are very different.
