Canal Grande is a charming boutique hotel located in Ca' Polacco, an elegant little palace that has just been restored. The furniture of the hotel is characterized by the elegance of Rococo style, typical of 18th-century Venice. The lobby with its rose marble fireplace, the breakfast room with its golden mirrors, and the bar with its Venetian red velvet armchairs overlook the Grand Canal and are the best places to begin and end a day! The small terrace on the Grand Canal gives our Guests the possibility to have a drink in a special setting and to "breathe the air of the canal"!!

Hotel's Favorite
This very cozy hotel on the Grand Canal is an oasis in a very busy tourist filled city. It is located , as the name states, on the Grand Canal and within walking distance of the ferrovia ( train station). The canal in front is busy with a constant flow of traffic, but in the hotel all is serene. On one side there is a tranquil campo or small square which is quiet and off the beaten path nearby. The atmosphere is of a small residence with a staff that really cares and is at your disposal to assist you in any way--restaurant recommendations, tours, general advice. The hotel provides free water transport to a Murano glass factory, if you want to do that. They ask you when you return from your day's activities if you enjoyed the experience and they remember where you've been! The rooms are lavishly furnished, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is served in the front hall with windows overlooking the canal. We'd like to commend Anka, in particular, for her help and excellent recommendations. Absolutely choose this hotel for its service, location and ambience.

Highly recommend Hotel Canal Grande for a short stay in Venice. We travelled with our teenage children (19 and 16) and stayed in the Antonio Vivaldi suite which worked perfectly for 3 nights. It's not huge but despite that there is a sense of separation and it has the benefit of 2 separate bathrooms. Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and checked in every time you passed them to make sure you had everything you needed. We were even provided with simple breakfast bags on our departure morning as we left at 7 before breakfast service. We did take up the offer of the free taxi to the Murano glass factory and it was worth the short trip - we didn't experience any heavy sales tactics but bought a few cheaper items at the shop at the end. The journey back on the water bus is stunning and a trip in itself. The hotel is an easy walk from the Piazza Romale which in turn was easy to get to by bus from the airport. We loved the location and spent several hours sitting on the courtyard at the side of the hotel watching the traffic on the grand canal. There is plenty of seating outside not shown on this photo i.e. its not just the 3 tables on the waterside veranda but the hotel essentially has space in a square to the side which is a dead end so it feels quite secluded. Overall great location, great hotel and great staff.

Booked the prestige double room with grand canal view, and was given the room Pietro Longhi. The room is right on the corner with 4 windows, and a larger 5th window in the toilet. Tbh I booked the room for the view, and initally didn't think it was much my style (prefer something more modern), but then once I actually settled in, I felt myself transported back in time, and could kind of imagine what it feels like living in the past, which added to the entire experience.
I loved the windows, and the window height, which starts close to the ground, giving a great view. All I needed to do was turn my head to the right while lying down and I'd be looking right at the canal. There is something glorious and soothing about waking up to the canal view everyday. I am not an early riser, but I got up every day at 6am to watch the sunrise by the window.
One bad thing - the bath tub had some black specks (reside?) near the drain when I got there, though I just rinsed it out with the shower. I think it's from the stopper. Another additional consideration is there are quite a few bridges to pass to get to hotel from Piazza (or you can take a the vaporetto which drops a few streets away), which is quite inconvenient IF you have heavy luggage (mine was 23kg). If you're in a large group or want to pay, you can take a water taxi of course. Also, view across river is slightly better (you can see around the canal bend).
Breakfast area was lovely, especially sitting outside on the extension by the canal and I really liked the peach muffin, and breakfast was provided very attentively.
Front desk staff were blunt but helpful, which I guess is Italian style :P They might want to consider a web form for breakfast options instead of pen and paper submissions.
Overall, I really liked the hotel both for the grand canal view, and the room itself.

Response from Alessandro Fornasier, Direttore generale at Hotel Canal Grande
Responded Mar 1, 2021
Dear Shacalee, we thank you very much for having taken some of your time to review our hotel Canal Grande after your stay in our beautiful and romantic city. We loved your comments on the room we assigned you. You gave a very good description about it and about its comfort. You are right, our hotel is decorated in XVIII Venetian style both in common parts and rooms. The purpose of our Management when they restored the palace was that our guests when inside the hotel they could experienced the feeling of the real atmosphere of that period but with the modern equipments of our days of course. We regret anyway about the bath tub. Did you call the Reception to report it? We could immediately intervene and fix it. Our staff is available 24 hours a day for our guests and well trained to solve the minor situation. Venice, as you probably know, is not a only island but it is composed by several islands all connected by more than 400 bridges. Public or private boats takes visitors and inhabitants almost everywhere but the best to discover its beauty and savor the real city is to walk and to loose themselves through its thousands alleys. About your arrival, we like to inform you and the TripAdvisor community that, upon request, we can organize transport of luggage from anywhere in the city to the hotel. This by booking a public porter or a public porter with an assistant if needed or by private boat (we have our own landing) with or without assistant. In all these cases the services are settled by the guests directly with the different suppliers. We just need to know which is the arrival place (airport, port, train station, bus station or other site), the arrival time and the service chosen will be waiting for you at the meeting point. We thank you very much for your kind words on our breakfast service and the areas dedicated. About your suggestion of a breakfast web form to fill, we did it but at the end nobody or very few of our guests filled it. It is why we came back to the paper one. Sometimes we help guests to fill it and it was a nice moment to talk to them and better understand their needs or preferences. In fact we love to be close to our guests, always helping them with our smile and offering them all our knowledge of the city to make their stay the most enjoyable one. We regret if we probably gave you a different impression. We thank you very much again for your visit and for all your kind words that we will share among the staff. We do hope to welcoming you at our Hotel Canal Grande in a very near future. Grazie! Chiara - Reception

A warm welcome and a friendly smile from all the helpful staff throughout our 4-night stay. The hotel, as its name suggests, is on the Grand Canal in a quiet location but within 30-40 minutes of all main sights provided, of course, that you don't get lost in the labyrinthine alleyways (the best way to see Venice).
Our rooms, in a separate building on the square a few metres from the main building, were well appointed and comfortable, decorated in gilt and brocade, with modern bathrooms. An excellent buffet breakfast, with plenty of fresh coffee or tea, sets you up for the day.
We can also recommend a local 'no-frills' restaurant, Ai Bari, just 5 minutes from the hotel, serving excellent pasta and pizza and a very drinkable red wine at 10 euros a litre.

I was staying here with my daughter in January 2023. Hotel's location is perfect, it is in the city centre, but at the same you don't hear all the noise from tourists and from boats. We were greeted at the reception, explained what we could see in the city, given Venice's map, explained everything about public transport, and we even were offered a free tour to Murano. Very cosy room with beautiful interior and comfortable beds, both the room and bathroom were very clean. Mini bar was full, there was everything in the room you need to make tea and coffee. The room was cleaned very well everyday, it was also nice to see little candies on our beds after the rooms being cleaned. Breakfast was included in our stay, the choice of the food and drinks was very large. If we ever come to visit Venice again, we will definitely stay at this hotel, also we will be recommending it to all of our friends and relatives, who think of visiting Venice. Thank you very much to the hotel staff for out great stay at your hotel, keep up the good work!

My mother and I kicked off our two week Italy trip with two nights here. Arriving Jet-Lagged and tired, every staff member made us feel welcome and attended to all we needed. Our room was beautiful on the canal, and enjoying a sip of prosecco with the Venetian breeze and charming sounds of the canal was such a treat. The concierge never failed us, making our trip so easy and relaxing with suggestions, dinner reservations, concert tickets, and walking us to our gondola ride. The service staff at breakfast and through-out the day were life savers and made such lovely memories with designs on the cappuccinos and friendly smiles with each espresso. The location was perfect, we opted for a shuttle ride from the airport, water taxies, and then a porter and driver upon departure. All was arranged through the front desk and was safe and smooth. Every time we left, upon return the staff would remember and ask how our activities went. The room was comfy, great temperature, and nice amenities. Nothing negative to say here. Look no further for a beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, and excellent location.

We booked the hotel via BA as part of a package, including the water taxi transfer - which was a great experience. We stayed in the Doges room with a wonderful view of the canal - I was transfixed with all the comings and goings on the water below. The staff were amazing all going the extra mile - nothing was too much trouble. It was my birthday during our stay and the staff surprised me with a birthday cake on my actual birthday. The breakfast was really good with a great variety of delicious fare. The hotel is conveniently located within easy reach of all the main attractions in Venice and the staff were happy to recommend the best restaurants. We would happily recommend this hotel. Thank you Hotel Canal Grande for making my birthday special!

This hotel has small rooms, but is easily accessible by train or by bus directly from the Venice airport. The breakfast was wonderful and just a short walk to the famous Rialto Bridge. Take it all in with an Italian dessert shop located across the canal and don't forget to take a gondola ride too. LOVELY city......

This is a delightful hotel with an excellent staff including reception, service and housekeeping. They were all helpful and to a person smiling and willing. Some beyond the call of duty.
We spent 5 nights at the hotel encompassing my husbands birthday which was noted with a delicious cake. Very thoughtful and kind. The room was not large but the bathroom was and with bedding and towels changed daily we were extremely comfortable.
It is well situated for the main railway station, 2 mins to a vaporetto stop and with easy walking to the Rialto Bridge. Highly recommended.

We stayed here in January for a long weekend away. The hotel was lovely, the staff could not be any more helpful. We were asked if we wanted to upgrade our room for a canal view but we felt the room we had was as nice so wasn’t worth the upgrade. Our room was in a separate building which we felt gave us privacy. The only minor irritation was staff in the morning that could be a little noisy but this certainly didn’t ruin our stay. The breakfast was brilliant such great choice and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. On our check out day the hotel suggested that if we had a later flight we could use the hotel’s facilities which we though was a very nice gesture.
All in all great hotel and service def worth it’s 4 stars.
