We arrived to the hotel via water taxi from the Venice airport. It was about a 15-20 minute boat ride. The staff were very friendly. The front door is the grand canal. The back door is a little alley way that leads to the town. staff accommodated our large group of 13. All our rooms were on the second floor. We had little balconies. Our room had views of the back while our parents had a great view of the canals. Our room had two twin beds. Everything was super clean in our hotel. They had continental breakfast which was a small buffet but they seat you and serve you. So friendly and breakfast was great. we enjoyed our stay here. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Venice.

Grand rooms, everywhere squeaky clean and the most welcoming and helpful staff you could imagine. Generous breakfasts and an ideal location right next to San Stae vaporetto station. Highly recommended!

Anniversary in Venice.. Prior to arriving, I contacted the hotel directly, as I wanted to ensure our holiday started without a hitch, and I wanted to get to the hotel without any worries or delays, as this was a special occasion for us. I managed to arrange (for an agreed price, providing my credit card details) for my wife and I to be met at the airport and taken directly to the waterfront by taxi, where a private water taxi was then waiting for us. This then whisked us away (at considerable speed) to the hotel. From the plane landing, going through airport, collecting our luggage…to stepping into the hotel, it took less than an hour & was well worth it. When we originally booked our trip through TUI, we upgraded to a Grand Canal view, so when we were shown to our room (we had to go out and come back as we arrived a little early), TUI had unfortunately been quite remiss in not pointing out that actually what they meant was a side view from the room window of the Grand Canal. I was devastated, as it wasn’t at all what TUI had led us to believe. This wasn’t the hotel’s fault, and what they did next was amazing. As another holidaymaker was leaving the next morning, they agreed to move us to that room at the front corner. They gave us a complimentary cocktail drink and nibbles in the bar before we went out on our first night. The Front of House Manager (Giuliano Zanet), the barman, and all the staff are a genuine asset to the hotel. Breakfast is a mixture of warm (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage & mushrooms), fruit juices, coffees, pastries/danish/croissants, cold meats, cheese & bread, toast & jams, muesli, fruit and even cake (tiramisu, coconut, banana & chocolate & coconut) all served by lovely, friendly staff. Whilst we were out after our first night at the hotel, the staff had moved our belongings to the new room, and left us a bottle of Prosecco & 2 flutes, together with their well wishes for the rest of our stay. [Got to apologise at this point, as we had a minor accident and one of the glasses smashed on the floor. After a quick call to reception, 2 ladies arrived to clear away the broken glass (thank you to them both).] After that, our holiday went smoothly, the staff always helpful, attentive and forever smiling. We had the best time in Venice, and hopefully we will be able to go back, and if we do, we’ll definitely stay at the Palazzo Giovanelli. The hotel is situated directly on the Grand Canal, towards the northern end, right next to the San Stae water bus stop (#1 goes down (from left to right on the canal) to Rialto Bridge & San Marco; the Orange line Alilaguna goes to and from the airport). To get tickets for the water buses, either get them at the airport, or a short walk down to the Rialto Bridge stop.

Our stay was the absolute best. I would not even consider staying any other place should I ever be lucky enough to return to Venice. The hotel was charming, the room superb and the staff were simply the best. Breakfast each morning was so good and so much fun. The hotel arranged for water taxis at our request, and was in the perfect location. Very elegant yet great for my family of three. All this and so reasonable priced!

Perfect location on the Grand Canal. short walk to Rialto bridge yet still fairly quiet with Vaparetto stop very close by. very good restaurants in quiet neighborhood close by as well. We arrived very early and the hotel was actually able to check us im within 10 min or so. That was a very pleasant surprise, as we had an overnight flight and we were exhausted. Our room had the most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on. The room had a nice set up, with a little hallway with the bathroom (a little on the small side but not too bad), where my husband could get ready in the early AM without waking me up. The staff was great, breakfast was great. We were able to walk to the train station. There is a ferry stop right outside the hotel. There wasn’t a clear hotel sign so it took us a few minutes to find it. However, if you take a private taxi, they will pull up to the dock of the hotel. Nice hotel, would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would certainly stay again if visiting Venice. Rooms spacious and comfortable. All hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location is excellent on the Grand Canal. You can arrive by water taxi but may also exit through a courtyard to the streets.

Absolutely lovely hotel, great location and really friendly staff, we went for our 20th wedding anniversary and weren’t disappointed. Breakfast served to your table and you could ask for as much as you wanted and staff seemed disappointed with small appetites and wanted you to ask for more. Room was spotless and beds changed daily. I really can’t fault the place at all.

We spent 5 days in Venice in hope that we would fall in love with this romantic city. The crowds were so horrific that it got us off on a bad footing. The hotel was very expensive so we thought the accommodations would be fabulous... not so! The floors were uneven, air conditioning was not regulated so it was cold all night. Shower was lukewarm. The staff was great!

Dear Mr. Buder, thank you very much for your review. We are very sorry to hear the crowds of the city got you on a bad footing. We dare say that this issue shouldn't lead to writing an incorrect review about the hotel. After investigation with our staff, we undersand that during your stay nothing was mentioned at the reception desk regarding your dissatisfaction about the accomodation; surely, we will have offered you a different accomodation. As you well know you have been complimentary upgraded for 5 nights to the Foscarini Suite overlooking the Gran Canal from your original booking which was for a Junior Suite with garden view. The Foscarini Suite is normally praised for its comfort, location and its unique view on the Gran Canal as well as for the size which is about 800 sqft. In the Foscarini Suite, and like in other Suites and Rooms, the original floor from the 15th century is a little bit uneven in residence and in the 1700s it was the abode of Marco Foscarini, future Doge of the Republic of Venice. Indeed, a lot of history is involved in the Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli and we are not willing to change the original floors we have which are the beauty of our Palage together with other lots of original frescoes. Nevertheless, it should be taken in consideration that Venice is built on water and therefore buildings fluctuate as well. Air conditioning can be adjusted directly from the room by setting the desired temperature. In case of difficuly is doing this, it was sufficient to contact the Front Desk who certainly would have helped you in setting the air conditioning according to tour desire. Again, we are very sorry that the crowds in Venice got you off on a bad footing, however we have the feeling that this issue and dissatisfaction of your should not have been reversed on the hotel. We always pay lots of attention to our customers suggestions and feedback as they will enable us to improve continuosly the highstandars we have. We sincerely hope that this experience will not permanently affect your faith in our hotel and that we will have an opportunity to welcoming you back in the future and during lower season and we are sure you will experience a completely different stay in Venice. Sorry again if Venice was to crowd during your stay in September and fell free to contact us at any time and we will be very pleaseed to be at your disposal. Yours Sincerly Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli & Gran Canal - The Management
