First time we have visited Italy and wow, what a friendly country. The front staff were so welcoming and always ready to answer any silly tourist questions we had. They organised a free trip to Murano, recommended local family restaurants and served with a smile all stay, the hotel was clean and tastefully decorated, breakfast was perfect, a range of...

just returned from a three night stay (Feb 20th to 23rd) & had a fantastic time. We were a family of three staying in a superior room booked at an amazing price with British Airways. We stayed in room 203 which was very clean & beautifully decorated with a garden view. At this time of year a canal view isn't...

Just ended a three night stay at this hotel and it was awesome. Staff are helpful, knowledgeable of everything in venice, friendly and accomodating. We were upgraded to a junior suite (no extra cost) which is very spacious and has an amazing historical setting to it. Hotel staff assisted me with calling my agent to confirm pick up times for...

After arriving at the Marco Polo airport, the best is to walk with your luggage to the Alilaguna boat stop connected to the airport--but about fifteen minutes of walking--and to take the boat to the San Stae stop and walk less than a block to the hotel entrance. The Alilaguna is like a shuttle bus, but it is a boat....

Perfect hotel for a long weekend in Venice. Very welcoming and helpful front desk and no nonsense service. Hotel is right next to waterbus stop on Grand Canal which makes airport transfer very easy. We had inclusive breakfast which was very good. Only complaint was the rather drafty breakfast room. Nice location - about 30 min walk to St Marks...

Venice was the last leg of our honeymoon in Italy. We found the trip enjoyable - up until we stayed at Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli from September 22, 2016 - September 25, 2016. I have been debating whether to post this review but finally decided that other visitors should be warned about this hotel. We booked and paid for a Superior...

we've been there for two nights. Our favorite hotel in venice was already fully booked so we searched for something else.. and lucky we were! We got a free up grade in an amazing room with lateral view. Room wasn't so big but it was well decorated and well organized and bathroom was shining! Its location is pretty good since...

Had the pleasure of visiting this hotel for my birthday, apart from the fact Venice was beautiful this hotel was one of my favourite parts of the trip. From checking in and discovering the gorgeous room to the incredibly helpful staff, I would recommend this hotel and also visit again myself. Only thing I would say is we would advise...

I booked the junior suite with my husband and it was our anniversary. Other than the canal view from the room everthing else was terrible and cried 'cheap' instead of 'luxury'. The suite didn't look like the picture. It had a huge entrance crammed with furniture and then a small area for the bedroom that was also crammed with huge...

Stayed here 20-25 November. Superb hotel. Easy to get to from the airport, just a walk away from San Stae waters stop. Clean and classy. The room was just right, even though we had to turn down the heating. Breakfast good. Staff knowledgeable and polite. Well stocked bar, if a little pricey, but what the hell, we were on holiday....

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
