I am very happy for what I choosed, it is a lovely room with great view. The hotel stuff are very nice too. The breakfast are very cute (if I can eat the breakfast in my room will be better). The ceiling little bit old and drop down, but not a big deal. The fridge is hidden, we found it... More

Our family of four stayed here for our one night visit to Venice. After a very frustrating experience getting to the island, we were relieved to see our hotel from the bridge near the bus station. The location was great and our room was fine. Prices in the mini bar were very reasonable. There was a nice variety of choices... More

We were a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 teens) & whilst we had 1 queen & 2 single beds the room itself was too small for all of us in it as well as luggage! Location was ideal as across the canal from train station, had breakfast in garden but it needed a tidy up, staff were friendly... More

as many have already noted, this hotel was a total letdown. it was dingy and dirty with unbelievable old, worn out furniture and bedding. the bathroom was awful as well. I also felt it was a terrible fire hazard in that the only way to lock your door once in your room was to use the ancient old room key..... More

As others have said, the location of the hotel is great. We were on a very cheap package and weren't expecting to get a luxury hotel so were very pleased to find we had a 1st floor room with two windows overlooking the Grand Canal which made us feel right in the middle of everything. The hotel is characterful though... More

The hotel is only 5 minutes from the station- and only one bridge! Check in was simple and at 1pm, earlier than most hotels. Good sized rooms, neat, tidy and air conditioned. The mini bar was reasonably priced. Complimentary breakfast was was continental style and was a great start to the day.

There's a difference between antique and just plain filthy. This hotel is disgusting! Our "air conditioner" did not blow cold air. It was cooler outside than it was in the room. Asked the front desk for help and he provided nothing! He told us we'd have to wait until the next day. How are we suppose to sleep in this... More

We spent 4 great nights at this hotel in May - We chose to pay an additional 100euro to upgrade to a room overlooking the Grand Canal. The location was great - close to the bus, train and railway stations. The breakfasts were plentiful and the croissants were baked fresh daily. The room had a quiet fridge - which was... More

We stayed for 2 nights as it is conveniently located near main parking. Hotel is truly worn out, starting from main entrance. It was very difficultto even find our room, which was small and full of quick fixes. We had a room with canal view. The breakfast was disaster, coffee was undrinkable and food selection very limited and nothing was... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
