We booked a superior double room to start off our honeymoon in Italy with three nights in Venice. The room was good sized and very clean, and the staff was consistently polite. I found the bed quite hard and thus difficult to get sleep, and...More
Really enjoyed my stay at this property. I participated in the 2017 Vogalonga and this hotel was a nice escape from the crowds on the water and within the city. It is a very uniquely styled property and was decorated with exquisite antiques and local...More
Just got back from a few days stay in this 'hotel' for my wife's birthday.
From the descriptions I expected a boutique hotel but it is more like an overpriced B&B.
Upon arrival we were told that our room wasn't in the hotel but in...More
This is a small up market B&B rather than a hotel - no lounge, bar or restaurant. But there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. It is in a quiet street, tricky to find without google maps, in an arty district away from the...More
We have just got back from 4 days in Venice. The hotel was in a very quiet street just a 2-minute walk from the Grand Canal waterbus stop, and about 15 minutes walk from St Mark's Square - couldn't have been more convenient. Beautiful room...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The best way is to take a water taxi (eur 15). It will take you straight from the airport to a stop close to the hotel. I forgot the name of the stop, but its easy to find on the internet. Don't take a normal cab. Its far more expensive and you will still need to walk quite some time or take a boat anyway.
