This is a nice hotel. The location is good, only around 10 minute walk from San Marco sqaure. Its also only about a 5 minute walk from the water stop. I could see it can be tricky to find but if you have a good map you should be fine. Theres shops and restaurants just outside but if you walk...

Palazzo Paruta is good option if you need more space for the family. We rented apt 603 from the hotel which had a king bed and a foldout queen in the living room Ali g with a kitchen and dining table. Apt was spacious and good for 2 adults and 2 teen boys to spread out a bit. About same...

Our room was lovely, however the hotel in general lacked a certain personality with lack of atmosphere. Most disappointing that we could not get a drink after 10 o'clock which for a 4 star hotel isn't really acceptable.

I travelled with 3 friends and we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, that is a few short steps from Palazzo Paruta. Clearly it was newly refurbished- modern, well equipped and convenient with plenty of space. We had a few minor difficulties with the coffee machine and front door but the staff could not have been more cheerful and helpful....

This hotel is amazing! The minute we walked over the bridge, onto the red carpet steps and into the lobby we were treated with the kindness one would expect at any hotel. The rooms are absolutely dreamy and the decor helps add to the Italian feel. I will add though that I personally didn't like the lamp in the imagine...

My husband and I stayed at Palazzo Paruta for 2 nights. The hotel is just a short walk from the pier so it was really easy to find. Location is really great! We felt safe in the area, very quiet and yet close to restaurants and shops. It is just a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's Square. The hotel...

This was our first stop on a 12 day trip to Italy with close friends. Our room was located on the second floor and we found our room to be quite comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and was plentiful and fresh! We were in close proximity to attractions. I must admit we did get...

Stayed her in 2010 and loved it so made a return visit in February. Unfortunately our room was very small on the ground floor and the shower flooded everywhere but its all beautifully appointed. The breakfast was lovely and the complimentary afternoon tea was a nice treat although not quite an English afternoon tea!! Love the hotel and its great...

Nice, small hotel. Close to everything and the water taxi. Hotel staff was friendly. Breakfast was included with our rate. Dining room was small but it was never an issue being able to sit down. Standard breakfast choices, plus fresh made waffles and coffee/cappuccino upon request. There is a lounge on the 2nd floor that seems to be opened in...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
