We have just returned from our second visit to Palazzo Paruta and are so pleased that we stayed there again. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet location but near to everything. Breakfast is still as good and afternoon tea is a welcome treat after all the walking around the sights. The hotel has a great... More

Beautiful rooms and very attentive staff. Went out of their way to make sure our stay was a great one. My mother forgot her bag and the staff actually brought it to us at the train station! We were impressed with everyone in the hotel.

Our visit was in March and we stayed for 4 nights in a junior suite. Alessandra, at the front desk, and the staff were all very accommodating and pleasant. There was always someone available to assist you when needed. Our room was spacious but awkward in the way it was situated. The room also had a balcony but you needed... More

Can't recommend them enough, our stay here was beyond pleasant. Staff: polite and offered superb service! Breakfast: came with our booking. Tasty and convenient for before trekking in the heat and trying to grabbing a bite among hundreds of other tourists. Complimentary afternoon tea: it was perfect for us since we prefer relaxed trips that are never in the "hustle,... More

the hotel is close to the s angelo vaporetto stop but finding the way with all the luggage can be a hassle. however we had a nice view of the grand canal coming from st lucia station. the apartment is separate from the hotel and has no lifts but the concierge carried all our luggage for us. the room and... We stayed for 4 nights in July, in room 154. It was a plush red room up a little flight of stairs off the 1st floor. The room itself was nice, reasonable amount of room for Venice, nice bathroom. It lacked storage space for clothes however, there is only a narrow cupboard and no shelves or drawers at all. The... More

This is a good hotel. The location is good enough if not right in the centre. Provided you're not obsessed with being right on St Mark's square it is well located and close of a raft of fair to good restaurants and near to the Grand Canal. Our room was plush and suitably "Venetian" with the necessary touches of opulence.... More

I stayed here with my husband and teenager daughter. It is a beautiful room with character, but I felt so disappointed as it cost a ridiculous amount of money per night. I can't believe I decided to spend so much on accommodation and perhaps a more wealthy person would not have been disappointed. The staff were fantastic and very professional.... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and I found the hotel to be lovely, we had a standard room which we couldnt fault. Staff are very polite and helpful and breakfast has a nice selection. Location was perfect. I would however say that you should definitely take your own hairdryer as they aren't very powerful at all. We stayed in... More

The trek from the taxi drop off to the hotel is a little bewildering, but not unusual for Venice. The hotel is just off a fairly quiet campo. The building was very old and had fairly nice furnishings. Check was fine and the very nice bellman brought our bags up to our junior suite after he took us up. The... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
