Warm, helpful family run Inn. The breakfasts were great. You can eat on a deck right on a small canal where you watch the local boats delivering groceries etc. Rooms clean. Very conveniently located a short walk from just about anywhere you'd want to go in Venice. We'll definitely be back!

Booked solely based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. This was our first trip to Venice and we wanted to stay a little off the beaten track but within a short distance to the major sites. Reasonable price and perfect location on a small canal with about a 10 minute walk to San Marco. Even though our... More

We cannot say enough about this place: Aleksandra is beautiful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The rooms are very comfortable (and the ones with the view are particularly lovely). The location (right next to one of the small canals) is absolutely perfect, as it permits you to "get away" from the swarms of tourists and get a feel for the "real" Venice;... More

Loved staying here! Location is a short walk from Rialto Bridge, short enough where I traveled with my suitcase to the hotel with ease. Aleksandra is so sweet and friendly! The area is quiet and safe, my room had a beautiful view of the canal too! Wifi works great too! I will certainly stay here again!

Hotel has very good location. 15 min to san marco by foot and at the same time not so crowded and turist trap neighborhood. Very comfortable rooms they have and perfect staff (helpful, always similing faces especially allesandra(owner)). Canal view is just amazing. Very good price for this quality.

Once again my lovely husband came up trumps when he selected Alla Vite Dorata for our three night stay in Venice. It is perfectly located near the water bus stop from the Airport but also very central for the sights you would want to visit. The owner is delightful and very accommodating; she speaks several languages so no problem in... More

A small ground floor B&B in a wide (for Venice) street ending at a canal, an easy walk from the best-known tourist attractions. The owner, Aleksandra, is there much of the time and is extremely welcoming and helpful. We had a double room (I think it was no. 5), and also a single room for our daughter. The double had... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
