I liked this hostel because of the staff. It was quite expensive when I was there for a hostel but the location is good. The rooms are spacious and generally clean. The free breakfast is not impressive but for budget travelling, it's Ok.

I had a great experience - kind staff and very friendly owner. Very helpful with my transition to Venice, extremely knowledgeable. Moreover I slept remarkably well and found the facilities to be quite nice.

I was supposed to stay there for 2 nights and we quit after the first one. I woke up at 3am on the first and only night because of bedbug bites. I had them on me, underneath my bed, on my luggage, on the wall adjacent to our beds, and then I started to pick them off my wife's t-shirt...

Travelling around Europe and overall this is the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. Staying here feels like your living in somebody's house except it's well below basic hygiene standards. Bathrooms are disgusting, the girls that work here sit on the backside all day and do not clean, this has meant that the bathrooms are filthy. Also this hostel...

Barely ever someone on reception, the place was not clean and as a group of girls we didn't feel safe. Random people would walk through our room to get to a storage room therefore our room was never locked. Bathrooms seemed grotty and the decor throughout was very dim and messy. We weren't given all the bed linen and did...

L'Imbarcadero I stayed here for one night only and it is well located in a quiet area near to a good cheap restaurant and overlook the water. Breakfast is poor but then again it is like this everywhere in Venice. It is 22 euros per night which by Venice's rip off standards is pretty good value. The beds are comfortable...

I really enjoyed staying at the L'Imbarcadero for 3 nights. The decor is a bit outdated but the hostel is clean and comfortable. They have single beds which are comfortable. I loved the fact they didn't have bunk beds. It is a short walk to the train station and it is an easy to walk to the St Mark's Square....

Hostel is cheap and the owner is very helpful. Rooms are exactly what they show in the pictures. It's a good place to stay if you are traveling alone because then you can make friends in the shared room. During my stay, all the people in the room were from different countries and I enjoyed my stay. They have free...

The bathrooms might need a little bit of attention in the close future but the hostel is still very clean and the staff is always welcoming. The location is perfect. I never had to walk for longer than 10 min to reach anything in the city and there is a lovely real venetian restaurant just around the corner. Very quiet...

They are comfortable clean actual normal beds and pillows you will see the ceiling and the whole room view and feel like home :) Very reasonable prices for Venice accomodation. 5 bedroom had a canal...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
