We would highly recommend the beautiful Campiello Zen B&B while in Venice. Great location, as it is away from the madness around St. Mark's Square; however, once you have your map or GPS, easy to find everything, and they are so close to a vaporetta stop and the train station. Every morning after breakfast, Susanna would help us plan our... More

This place is brilliant and the hosts are so helpful. Located close to all transport and not far from all of the Venice attractions. A fully restored building and we had a large and very comfortable suite. Andrea was exceptional in providing us directions on how to get to places and what we should see in our limited time. Nothing... More

We had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at this charming B&B in May and we were thrilled with our choice to stay away from the "hub" of this beautiful city! The location is ideal being steps away from the vaporetto but peacefully situated away from the crowds and still within walking distance to everything. The hosts couldn't be lovelier... More

We stayed here over a month ago now and are still "singing its praises" to everyone. Andrea could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. His advice and suggestions for places to see, things not to miss, good restaurants and places to stop for a drink or ice-cream, were faultless. Our bedroom was exceptional, as was... More

I cannot recommend Campiello Zen and our host Andrea strongly enough. He really made our short trip to Venice a truly unforgettable experience! We had just a day and a half in Venice and Andrea was instrumental in helping to plan out activities for each day. Although we felt like we absolutely got the most from the visit his expertise... My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the B&B. The breakfast provided was exceptional. It was interesting to come and go as though you lived in the area. There were many places to have dinner that were close by. Andrea was helpful in planning out our day. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if we were... More

We stayed for two days at the wonderful Campiello Zen in Venice. Apart from the fabulous location, huge room tastefully decorated and great coffee, this b & b had a great host. Andrea took pains to direct us to less crowded and more picturesque walks in Venice and booked us into great restaurants for us to have a fabulous gastronomic... More

We loved our stay at Campiello Zen. Andrea is a friendly and thoughtful host. He's happy to advise on itineraries, restaurants and directions. The B&B is charming and it suited all of our needs: The suite was spacious, with a comfortable king sized bed; air conditioning worked well; Wi-fi was excellent; the entire B&B was clean and attractive, and the... Andrea and Susanna are both wonderful hosts. They patiently answered all our queries even before we confirmed our hotel bookings. During our stay, they also highlighted local non-touristy joints and helped us with bookings. The B&B is nicely decorated with spacious rooms and in an excellent location, close to the Vaporetto. When they knew we had to check out early in... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
