Background: we are a couple fortunate enough to have the ability to travel and stay in good hotels. We have stayed twice in this hotel and like it. The first time we had a fairly large and red room with a narrow view to the canal. It was very quiet. This time we had a suite with the bed and...

We returned to the Centurion Palace Hotel following an excellent stay there two years ago. We were not disapointed. The staff were without exception friendly and efficient. The room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was excellent. The location is stunning.

After staying at the Metropole in San Marco 2 years ago this hotel had a challenge. Passed with flying colours! Lovely room, a little small but you expect that in Venice. Really friendly staff, especially Alvira in the lounge bar who could not have done more, recommending delicious Prosecco on Valentine's Day and who could not do enough for us....

The rooms are nice, the location is excellent, the staff are really pleasant and helpful, there is a nice bar area and I would imagine the courtyard and balconies overlooking the Grand Canal are really lovely in sunny weather (we went in January). As in just about every hotel in Venice food and drink are very expensive and there are...

Our experience in this hotel was mixed. Prior to our arrival every question that we asked was answered and suggestions made by an extremely helpful concierge staff. We had organised transfers to the hotel and once we located the driver after a couple of phone calls to the hotel all went smoothly. It was an interesting experience arriving via water...

The hotel location is perfect and well worth a five star recommendation. All the staff were excellent. Helpful and friendly with nothing too much trouble. They get five stars too. Didn't eat in the hotel restaurant (which has excellent reviews) apart from breakfast so can't give an opinion on that. Breakfast was ok, not five star standard though. For a...

Dear Guest, many thanks for the compliments to our Team. We do apologize about the heating, we have to admit that we had a not full performance heating system during that period, because of the extraordinary cold. Best regards

It was a cold january but Sina hotel is amazing. Rooms, location and service were outstanding!! Breakfast buffet is pricey and not good, eat outside instead in any of the small-cozy caffeterias. Saludos!!

The Centurion Palace is a great place to start your journey around Venice. Located at the beginning of the Grand Canal on the waterfront, nearby the waterbus stop in front of the huge Santa Maria della Salute church and a few 100 meters away from the wooden bridge leading you to San Marco and to the Rialto Bridge. Excellent starting...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
